Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot a wide variety of heavy equipment, including loaders, bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, and other construction and industrial machinery. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent diagnostic skills, and experience working with hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently, and meets project deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Replace or repair defective parts, such as engines, transmissions, and other components.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks, such as lubrication, oil changes, and filter replacements.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints to identify and solve problems.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance schedules.
• Test equipment for proper performance and functionality after repairs.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies at all times.
• Collaborate with operators and other team members to identify and address equipment concerns.
• Stay updated on industry advancements and repair techniques.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in heavy equipment repair is preferred.
• Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and service manuals.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy components and work in various environments.
• Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required).
Work Environment:
• Combination of indoor and outdoor work, often in varying weather conditions.
• Exposure to loud noise, grease, and heavy machinery.
• May require occasional travel to job sites or field locations.
