Job Overview:
The
Contract Azure Data Engineer , on behalf of our client, will play a critical role in providing business intelligence and data solutions for one of the nation's largest 401(k) plan advisers and institutional money managers. This position involves designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and architectures within Azure to support data analytics and decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities: Design and implement scalable and secure data processing pipelines using Azure Data Factory and other Azure services. Manage and optimize data storage with Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, and related tools. Develop data models and maintain data architecture to support analytics and business intelligence reporting. Ensure data quality through processes such as cleaning, transformation, and integration. Monitor and troubleshoot Azure environment data issues to maintain high performance. Collaborate with BI developers, analysts, and stakeholders to understand and fulfill data requirements. Implement data security measures, including encryption, access controls, and audits. Automate data workflows for streamlined ingestion, processing, and distribution. Utilize Azure Synapse Analytics and other Azure services to deliver insights and enable data-driven decisions. Document procedures, systems, and architectures to maintain clarity and compliance. Additional Responsibilities: Support data governance initiatives, including metadata management and data cataloging. Deliver training on data warehouses, modeling techniques, and pipelines for new and existing users. Develop and enforce data engineering best practices and mentor junior team members. Assist in building the BI strategic roadmap and data governance framework. Requirements Include:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Experience: Minimum 5 years in data engineering, including data model design, ETL, and pipeline development. At least 3 years of experience with Azure Data Engineering tools such as Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, and Azure Data Lake. Experience with database technologies like Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or NoSQL databases. Skills: Strong knowledge of data modeling and analytics fundamentals. Proficiency in object-oriented programming and finite state systems. Expertise in building ODS databases and analytics data warehouses. Experience with cloud platforms like Azure and AWS. Certifications: Azure-related certifications are a plus. Key Competencies: Analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Strong time management and multitasking abilities. Clear communication skills, both verbal and written.
