Full-Time Accounting Specialist Salary Range: $45,000-$55,000
Since 2016, Pawsperity has been helping uplift families from generational poverty through job training in the art of dog grooming. Pawsperity serves some of the community’s most vulnerable members, including individuals often coming from backgrounds of domestic violence, addiction, incarceration, and homelessness
Position Purpose:
The Accounting Specialist reports to the CEO and has tertiary responsibility for supporting financial and accounting activities in support of the agency strategy. This position complies with financial and accounting system controls and standards and helps ensure timely financial and statistical reports to fulfill management and board needs.

Essential Responsibilities include:
Financial Operations
- Responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and electronic banking.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial procedures.
- Help ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting for all stakeholders.
- Assist in the preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial statements.
- Assist with the coordination of annual and compliance audits.
- Assist the accounting, accounts payable, and gift processing functions to ensure best-practice and compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory standards.
- Serve as primary contact on behalf of the agency for banking relationship and investment managers.
- Manage student stipends and student emergency funds.
- Manage petty cash.
- Prepare bank deposits and make bank runs
- Workforce invoicing and reporting.
- Assist Department Directors with annual budget preparation.
- File sales tax.
- Ensure property tax exemptions.
- Assist with monitoring and reporting on grant expenditures, ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of grant budgets and financial reports.
- Be backup for health insurance, payroll and other human resources activities as needed.
Minimum Requirements
- Associate or bachelor’s degree with a financial or accounting emphasis or work experience.
- Organized, self-starter.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Passion for the mission and work of the organization.
