We offer a collegial culture, challenging projects, and excellent compensation and benefits.OverviewAs a Field Applications Engineer (FAE) based in the Bay Area and focused on video, you will help demonstrate the value of Dolby’s imaging technologies to its partners and support them in integrating the technologies into their products such as TVs and streaming devices. You will play an active role in Dolby’s device approval process and in resolving ecosystem issues identified with existing devices in the field.  You will be the technical liaison between the customers and Dolby’s internal teams such as support and engineering.Essential Job FunctionsSupport OEMs in enabling Dolby Vision in various consumer products such as TVs, Set-top boxes, streaming devices, mobiles, tablets, PCs and automobilesVerify proper integration of Dolby’s technology into devices by following test procedures, evaluating test data, and working with partners on open issues.Work with streaming service partners to identify and resolve complex field issues, leveraging a thorough understanding of content creation, distribution, and playbackEducate and work with licensees to meet Dolby’s product performance expectationsCollaborate with account managers to support pre-sales activities by building and delivering technical presentations and demonstrations of existing and new imaging technologiesAssist with encoding test content for demonstrations and troubleshooting, applying in-depth knowledge of end-to-end video workflows for VOD and Live contentManage the day-to-day communication on technical issues, communicating with Dolby’s Engineering teams and following up on outstanding technical issues both internally and externally with partnersSupport, and work with, the solutions engineering team when requiredEstablish and own relationships with technical contacts at existing and prospective partner companiesDomestic travel to US-based customer sites may be required, along with occasional international travelEducation, Skills, Abilities, and Experience RequiredB.S. or M.S. in Engineering Technology, Electrical, Audio, Video, etc., or equivalent experienceUseful experience includes expertise/knowledge/familiarity with any (not all) of the following areas: Integration of video and imaging SDKs into consumer devices such as TVs and mobile devicesTools and methods for video analysis and measurements, electrical and software testsVideo codecs (e.g., H265, AV1) and video delivery protocols (e.g., DASH, HLS)HDMI and video post-processing technologies used in consumer devicesExperience with Picture Quality (PQ) testing and tuning on consumer displaysStrong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving abilitiesComprehensive written and verbal communication skills in EnglishExperience with video content creation and CLI tools, scripting languages and exposure to C/C++ codeAbility to understand and explain technical issues to technical and non-technical personnelInterest in video production, recording engineering, game/film video, or cinematography is highly desirableKey Personal Attributes for Success in this RoleMindset of ownership (aka Gets Things Done): A track record of accomplishing measurable and identifiable resultsWillingness to learn new technologies/concepts and proactively look for opportunities to contributeExhibits empathy for others – team-members, colleagues, customers, partners, consumers and the end-userSets high standards for themselves and for othersExcellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential; written and verbal interactions with customers and peers is a major part of the roleAbility to collaboratively work with teams that are comprised of individuals who may not be part of the immediate organizationGood time management skills with the ability to manage requests to enable reasonable and acceptable professional and personal timelines and schedules.#LI-SW1The San Francisco/Bay Area base salary range for this full-time position is $148,400 - $204,100, which can vary if outside this location,plus bonus, benefits, and some roles may also include equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
