About this position:
The Applications Engineer (AE) is responsible for product support via telephone and email. Serves as the primary support liaison between the company and our customers. Responsibilities over electronic products and online services related to Field IO, Data Acquisition, and Industrial Networking.
The Applications Engineer is expected to provide a memorable experience to each customer by offering a personalized way of delivering exceptional service and information that stands out from the competition and goes the extra mile. The AE will also provide feedback to the product development process, identify sales opportunities, and contribute to the creation of technical documentation and materials to aid in the sales and the support of product lines.
The department provides professional, friendly, and responsive handling of pre and post sales inquiries. It is fundamental to our company reputation and sales growth.

Responsibilities:
- Provides unmatched, exceptional service to external customers and partners. Providing deep knowledge of Advantech products and services for internal sales forces.
- Demonstrates expert knowledge of the company's products and convey customer feedback regarding products to the appropriate product development team.
- Develops and participates in systematic self-guided training programs on company products and technologies, including developing technical training materials that can be used by other AEs, technical sales staff, customers, and partners.
- Identifies sales opportunities, asks probing questions about the customers' application and project to uncover opportunities to benefit the customer's business requirements and to realize more sales revenue with a customer.
- Acquires information for Sales and Marketing purposes including, but not limited to names, addresses, contact information, industry type, and job function information, recognizing that many times the customer that communicates with Application Engineer is a specifier and is a strategic contact for Advantech marketing activities.
- Manages Technical Support inquiries, pre and post sales, within ticking portal.
- Works as a team with Customer Service and Sales to provide the best possible service to the customer, as well as maximize the customer value to the company.
- Uses common software tools, contributes to the development of materials to assist in the support and sales process of a product, such as application examples, configuration and installation examples, troubleshooting processes, maintenance of knowledgebase, etc.
- Applies sound troubleshooting practices to efficiently and effectively guides customers through diagnostic and corrective action processes.
- Communicates with the Application Engineer Supervisor, Marketing and Sales Operations teams regarding process improvements, customer opportunities or complaints, and any other issues affecting the team and its ability to provide outstanding customer service.
- Provides ticketing management between regional end users of Advantech products and the corporate headquarters level 3 technical team and R&D department.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Hardware Experience with Digital and Analog I/O, Counter/timer hardware, Encoders.
- Industrial fieldbus technologies including EtherCAT, MODBUS/TCP, MODBUS/RTU.
- Ability to parse source code and inter-service & device data formats like JSON, XML, YAML, ASCII, MQTT, etc.
- Firm knowledge of Windows OS required as well as experience with Linux Debian or Ubuntu.
- Knowledge of Wifi technology
- The ability to read schematics
- Firm knowledge of PC applications and tools related to required technologies.
