Our client, a fast-growing company in Houston, TX is seeking a dynamic ACCOUNTING MANAGER.
Initially the position will be responsible for accounts receivables, accounts payable, and inventory accounting. In addition, the reconciliation of all cash and balance sheet accounts to ensure assets and liabilities are properly recorded in the Company's Financial Statements. The expectation for this role is to assume additional responsibilities over time including facilitating audits implementing internal controls and process improvements, managing month-end close activities, performing financial analysis, and supporting departmental projects and initiatives. Ultimately the goal is that this position will grow into a Controllership position.

$90,000 - $105,000

Initial Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that general ledgers and sub-ledgers are reconciled, and reconciling items are resolved.
- Conduct regular balance sheet account and bank statement reconciliations for assigned area to ensure that records are accurate and in agreement with the General Ledger.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities in a timely manner; elevate more complex issues for resolution.
- Approve Bank Reconciliations on a Monthly Basis
- Design and implement standard policies and procedures to ensure accurate accounts payable records
- Validate A/P Aging matches General Ledger Balance
- Oversee accounts receivable, including invoices and collections.
- Validate A/R Aging matches General Ledger balance. Implement debt collection policies of the company.
- Management of the Fixed Asset process and policy, including Capital Expenditure Authorization and spend tracking.
- Prepare and manage journal entries, including appropriate documentation.
Responsibilities to be Assumed Over Time
- Provide data and serve as a resource for external financial and tax audit examination processes, including helping prepare audited financial statements when necessary.
- Management of the Sales and Use Tax accounting, reporting, and payment process.
- Assist in the implementation of general accounting process improvement and Internal Control objectives.
- Oversee entire month end close activities.
- Proactively participates in creation of the month-end balance sheet, income statement and Cash Flow Statement
- Participate in month end, quarter end, and yearend financial review.
- Communicates issues and resolutions to management and affected areas/departments. Coordinates solutions to problems of moderate complexity with other departments and business units.
- Pursue resolution of business issues impacting financial statements in a proactive, independent manner.
- Participates in departmental projects and initiatives.
- Prepare and manage schedules, support documents, and variance analyses for management
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
- 401 (k) record keeping and distributions
- Implement debt collection policies of the company.
- Routinely examines reports identifying trends, inefficiencies, and improvements or cost savings
- Ensure proper and timely recording of financial transactions in the general ledger in accordance with GAAP and the company's policies, and internal control standards, Once GAAP is implemented.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Accounting Management experience; including financial accounting/general ledger experience and a CPA (active status preferred).
- 3+ years of process cost accounting experience.
- 3+ years of experience in a senior accounting role.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business Administration or a related field.
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of GAAP.
- Ability to apply a broad range of accounting principles, practices, and procedures to produce accurate end products.
- Ability to think analytically and apply sound judgment and/or financial/accounting principles to work assignments.
- Experience in Process Job Costing and inventory valuation with multiple products.
- Experience in Fixed Assets transaction accounting.
- Effective working knowledge of Microsoft Office with intermediate to advanced Excel skills, Quick Books, and ERP accounting software experience.
- Proficiency with Accounting software.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for all levels of the organization.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to direct and supervise.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and highly organized.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to think logically.
- Must have prior experience in overseeing and managing full month end close.
- Experience with Expensify or similar spend management products as well as experience with corporate credit card purchasing programs.
