YOUR MISSION (The Job Description)
The Accounting Manager will play a key role in managing the team responsible for the daily accounting functions for Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, including general ledger, inventory control, month-end close, daily reporting, and monthly reporting. This role will ensure the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of the hotel's financial reporting.

This role will ensure the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of the hotel's financial reporting.
THE NITTY-GRITTY (The Essential Job Duties)
This role will work closely with the Controller to:
- Hire, train, motivate, evaluate, and supervise staff to ensure that employees receive adequate guidance and resources to accomplish established objectives; ensures that policies and procedures are followed, and that daily and monthly reports are accurately prepared
- Assist with the daily auditing, processing, and recording of revenue, taxes and other expenses to ensure that all work is coordinated and completed on a timely basis
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures, while ensuring compliance and making recommendations for improvement
- Review work of direct reports to ensure all information and reporting is accurate, timely and in compliance with all regulations and company policies
- Anticipate ongoing changes, problems, and opportunities to maintain effective systems and procedures
- Review or prepare journal entries for daily and monthly reporting
- Review or prepare month end balance sheet reconciliations
- Develop, implement, and/or maintain manual and automated financial reporting systems
- Aid internal, external, and/or regulatory auditors in the preparation of scheduled audits
- Communicate any potential discrepancies or delays and research and resolve issues daily
- Other duties as assigned

MUST HAVE'S
- Strong communication skills, working with all levels of employees as well as outside contacts
- Review and comprehend all necessary documentation
- Observe and direct actions of subordinates
- Knowledge of automated financial systems required
- Proficiency with spreadsheet software, with ability to create complex reports
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A high school education and five years of progressive work experience in accounting, finance, or related field, or through a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent plus three years of related work experience
WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE'S
- Degree in finance or accounting
- Previous experience in the casino and/or hospitality industry
- CPA or MBA
THE WORKING CONDITIONS
Must have ability to:
- Communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
- Review, comprehend, and analyze all necessary documentation
- Observe and direct actions of accounting team
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of GAAP, USALI and accrual-based accounting
- Use financial systems and proficiency with Excel
- Work is sedentary in nature, with long hours seated, typing on a keyboard, and viewing a computer screen
