ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Positions Client as a superior vendor to its customers, a superior customer to its vendors, a superior employer to its staff, and as a fully compliant taxpayer to local, state, and federal regulators, by:
  • Ensuring timely invoicing to customers, timely vouchering and payment to vendors, and timely and accurate accounting for all business operations
  • Trial balance accuracy
  • General ledger maintenance including current and prior period adjustments
  • Accuracy in GAAP based accounting, including monthly journal entries and adjustments in proper periods
  • Timely resolution of AR and AP exceptions (including consistent collaboration with other departments)
  • Accuracy in management of accounts receivable and accounts payable sub ledgers
  • Auditing of expenses and expense accounts to ensure proper recording and G/L allocations
  • Management of corporate credit cards

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintaining 13-week cash flow projections and ensuring all inputs are consistently accurate
  • Performing bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations
  • Preparing the Daily Flash report and ensuring all inputs are consistently accurate
  • Entering payroll in payroll software system and accurately recording journal entries
  • Generating weekly and monthly settlement checks and ensuring prompt payment
  • Maintaining required personnel records, tax records, and business documents
  • Assisting and collaborating with People & Culture for New Team Member Onboarding and Offboarding processes
  • Preparing annual 1099 filings
  • Helping Client to become a “Broker of Choice” for motor carriers by executing a payment process that is predictable, reliable and an overall positive experience
  • Collaborating with operating teams and updating accounting processes to create efficiencies
  • Backing up credit staff to issue new credit and make ongoing credit adjustments
  • Helping achieve scale & reduce waste by taking proactive measures to ensure that subordinate staff members within the accounting department are maximally productive at all times
  • Assisting Controller in overseeing purchase/lease/finance/banking activities and record-keeping of corporate resources by maintaining records related to this activity and providing data, reports, and information to aid decision-making
  • Informing the accountable staff of any new vendor agreements to assist the company with its contract management, storage, and retrieval process and in keeping compliant with the company’s Critical Vendor policy
  • Champions, Promotes & Inspires Core Values internally & externally; and as a Manager ensures adherence and demonstration of Core Values by all underlying subordinate staff
  • Assisting in the annual budget process
  • Assisting in creation of monthly financial package
  • Assisting in investigation of variances against budget
  • Creating (with Controller) and monitoring accounting department KPI’s
  • As a manager, ensure cultural assimilation process is carried out at team level
  • Report observed ineffective resources and inefficient processes to Controller
  • Other responsibilities and projects as assigned by Controller

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a Full Charge Bookkeeper or Staff Accountant
  • A deep knowledge and understanding of accounting software systems
  • Knowledge of GAAP and double-entry accounting
