Job Summary

The Manufacturing Training Coordinator will be part of AFL's manufacturing training team. The incumbent will design, develop, coordinate, conduct and manage various training programs that support operational and Lean knowledge growth and initiatives. They will collaborate with operations, quality, and engineering personnel to schedule training events, certification interviews and manage technical documents. To be successful in this role, the incumbent will be required to have a general understanding of the plant's manufacturing processes. In addition to process knowledge, he or she must possess strong interpersonal, computer, administrative/organization, and communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with various departments to generate and implement long- and short-range training plans for various departments
  • Maintain and track KPI's and metrics for Duncan area manufacturing training and certifications
  • Responsible for coordinating with HR and Outsourced hiring companies to organize pre- and post-employment onboarding activities
  • Collaborate with the EHS group to ensure safety training is kept up to date
  • Coordinates rotating Engineering lead training seminar schedule, and track the effectiveness based on machine operator performance trends
  • Maintain all certification documentation up to date and in compliance with local instructions and ISO requirements
  • Create training material using training delivery and video editing software
  • Plan, organize and deliver train the trainer classes to ensure that all business units are staffed appropriately with capable OJT Trainers
  • Manage the certified trainer audit and surveillance program, track the effectiveness of OJT based on operator defect rates, and ensure that actions are taken when audits indicate that training is not meeting expectations
  • Coordinate with the various Manufacturing Instructors to overcome any obstacles preventing timely completion of certifications and find remedies to ensure training is progressing
  • Work with Process Engineering, Maintenance, QC, and Operations to ensure that reference material is up to date and relevant to training certifications
  • Routinely meet with Manufacturing Instructors to document and track instructional effectiveness and summarize evaluation reports determining the impact of training on employee skills and their effects on KPIs
  • Work with the Manufacturing Instructors and the Training Manager to track certification metrics, display data, assess trends for presentation of KPIs and develop corrective actions in poor performance areas
  • Continuously improve the certification and training process by identifying inefficiencies, eliminating redundancies, and streamline paperwork among processes and production
  • Manage the certification deletion and remedial training programs
  • Work with SMEs from multiple departments to design, create and deliver training on various topics both scheduled by the training plan and as JIT
  • Create Just in time training schedules and content covering multiple business units and shifts
  • Develop and display visual indicators of metrics and KPIs
  • Perform needs assessments, design & develop training material, effectively implement, and assess the effectiveness of the full training cycle
  • Work with EHSAdmin. to support weekly 5S audits and report/record
  • Continuously evaluate certified trainer staffing and make recommendations based on training performance
  • Participate in other training initiatives directed by the Training Manager

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of technical writing or documentation experience
  • 3+ years of instructional design and facilitation experience
  • Experience using video editing software to produce training content
  • Adept in the use of Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power
  • Proven work experience in coordinating multiple training events in a corporate/manufacturing setting
  • Must have experience analyzing, collating, and displaying data in user friendly formats
  • Adequate knowledge of learning management systems and web delivery tools
  • Proven ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate)
  • Familiarity with delivery of training material in-person and through web-based presentation
  • Manufacturing experience is preferred, but not required.

Working Conditions
  • Varied environment, most time spent at office work and some on the shop floor.
  • Off shift support of training initiatives will be required at times.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Minimum Education
  • Associate Degree
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
