General Description
Under the direction of the Supply Chain Manager, the Senior Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing complex manufacturing materials and components. This role requires a deep understanding of the manufacturing process and the ability to manage supplier relationships to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of high-quality materials.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Strategic Sourcing: Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with company goals.
- Supplier Management: Evaluate and select suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery speed. Maintain strong relationships with key vendors.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure advantageous terms.
- Cost Analysis: Perform cost analyses and set benchmarks for quality and cost.
- Inventory Management: Work with the materials group to oversee and maintain inventory of complex metal products and materials. Manage inventory levels to ensure the availability of necessary materials and components, optimizing stock turnover and reducing holding costs.
- Market Research: Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends and new suppliers. Research, analyze, and forecast current and future buying trends, markets, and products specific to the manufacturing industry.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including production and engineering teams, to forecast needs, understand material requirements and specifications, and assess market trends.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and ethical requirements.
- Risk Management: Assess financial risks associated with purchases and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Leadership: May act in place of the supply chain manager as required and authorized.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Education

- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
- Certification such as Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) is highly desirable.
- Proven experience of 5+ years in a procurement or purchasing role, with at least 2+ years in a senior position handling complex procurement tasks, i.e. supplier development.
- High competency and knowledge of ERP (Epicor preferred)
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.

- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
