QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma/GED, four-year college degree preferred, at least five years of experience in planning, development, and management of recreational programs, experience in administration and management of recreational facilities preferred, and at least five years of experience in a supervisory capacity. CPRP certification preferred. Possess a valid driver's license. Must meet Park Board employment and physical standards, which includes a background check as well as a drug and alcohol screening. Experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and aptitude to perform the defined duties.

Cullman Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism is dedicated to improving quality of life through exceptional parks, facilities, events, and recreational opportunities for all.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for administrative and managerial work in the development, supervision, and evaluation of all outdoor sports staff.
  • Directs, hires, trains, and supports outdoor sports staff.
  • Manages the operation, maintenance, security, and repair of the assigned facilities and equipment.
  • Establishes and maintains sound business and financial procedures in accordance with federal and state laws, and CPRST system policies.
  • Provides effective and efficient customer services. Promotes and maintains responsive community relations.
  • Responsible for the recruitment and marketing new events/tournament.
  • Coordinates in-service training and safety auditing programs for subordinate staff.
  • Oversees facility procurement in keeping with the Athletics Budget and the Board purchasing procedures.
  • Maintains system-wide inventory as it relates to departmental responsibilities.
  • Coordinates the disposal of surplus property.
  • Works with Athletics Director and Executive Director on all capital outlay projects within the Athletics Department.
  • Assists maintenance supervisor and general staff in any outdoor maintenance and or upkeep necessary for outdoor sports facilities as needed.
  • Coordinates and supervises all system-wide safety procedures.
  • Maintains responsibility for all financial handling procedures and training for frontline staff in accordance with Policy and Procedures handbook.
  • Attends all meeting as required by the Athletic Director.
  • Works with the Athletics Director to evaluate operational policies and initiates changes for improvement.
  • Works with the marketing team on maintaining Athletics social media and website content by providing information for weekly updates, promotions, etc.
  • Acts as a member of the Recreation Team for special events, programs, and other activities.
  • Acts as a team member with other Parks and Recreation staff, embracing and supporting the vision and mission of the of the CPRST Board of Directors and the City of Cullman.
  • Exhibits a high level of professionalism and ethics, working amicably with the Park Board, the Executive Director, Administrators, Personnel and Community.
  • Exhibits proficiency in written and oral communication.
  • Works a minimum of a forty-hour work week, which will likely include nights and weekends, with hours varying based on time of year, events, and projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletics Director.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The work area is well lighted, ventilated, and heated. Occasional work outdoors where there is potential to be exposed to various weather conditions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands for this position are moderately active. Walking, running, standing, bending, stooping, jumping, and carrying of moderately heavy items may be required. Must be able to routinely lift fifty pounds of weight without assistance.
