Chief Estimator - Healthcare Construction (Birmingham, AL)

About Our Client My client provides construction management and general contracting services to clients in the Healthcare markets. They foster both hard-bid and design-build relationships with their clients to add value. Their focus is on complex projects across primarily the Southeast with occasional work in other regions as requested by key clients. They are in the midst of a successful 5 year strategic growth plan allowing for the intake of new work, and are in need of a talented Estimating professional who, in time, wants to build and lead a team. Job Description Reporting directly into the VP, the main duties and responsibilities of the Commercial Estimator will include the following: Estimate from both concept designs and complete designs Assist design team with budgetary pricing at various stages in design development Consult with self-perform divisions to obtain accurate costs Completion of all aspects of project bidding including plan and specification takeoff, vendor contact and tracking, bid form completion, pricing, bid review and submission Scope and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers for accuracy and completeness Assist with the development, updating and implementation of an estimating database with assemblies Assist or lead the process of implementation of estimating program software system Maintain a cost history database Review estimates with design team and/or construction team Interact with clients and design team as needed to evaluate conceptual and detailed estimates Assist Project Manager with project budget set up once projects are awarded The Successful Applicant In return for a competitive compensation package, the successful candidate will possess the following: Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Construction Management or related field plus related experience 5+ years in conceptual estimating Design Build experience MEP experience is a plus Hands-on construction experience is a plus Projects will be focused across the Healthcare market, both large and small projects What's on Offer Experience-based salary, considered very competitive for the market Performance related bonus scheme (Paid twice a year) Generous benefits package Health Dental Vision 401K plan Profit Sharing account for ALL employees Flexible work environment (work-life balance mentality)
