About the Job As a member of the Gift Administration team, this position is responsible for identifying existing donors, creating accounts for new donors, processing, verifying, and receipting of gifts to the University of Minnesota. Responsible for complex gift transactions and quality control. Requires in depth knowledge of gift administration policy, donor management system (database), and indexing. Position uses sound judgment to apply consistent policy to unique and individualized gift transactions. Starting salary: $50,000- 58,000 based on experience. Responsibilities Research, analyze, process and verify gifts and donor information - performs a key role in decision making process for gifts from all University campuses: (60%) Using donor management system (DMS); research donor information, add new donors, and update existing donor data including address, phone, email, spouse and giving circle Analyze gift information for correct fund recording, and identification of specific codes and payment types (pledges, matching gifts, stock gifts, and deferred gifts) Evaluate and apply gift policy guidelines to unique non cash gifts (in-kind gifts, estate gifts, real estate, securities, property) for efficient processing; research and gather information from the database to ensure proper recording of the gift Record honorarium and memorial gifts, ensuring appropriate parties are notified of gifts in their honor or family members are notified of memorial gifts Quality control check on gifts from bank files and imaged documentation Responsible for indexing all gifts, donor agreements and documentation Responsible for gift administration process via web based donor management system (database): (20%) Analyze gift transactions and resolve problems with standard and unique gifts Identify specific funds and enter designated gifts to appropriate funds (approximately 10,000 potential funds require review and oversight prior to entering a gift) Apply gift policy to both individual donor intent and corporate/foundation contributions Ensure special gift instructions are appropriately designated on the donor system Consult with development officers on gift policy if exception are required Correspondence with Donors, Corporations and Collegiate Units: (20%) Respond to questions and advise development staff on gift processing issues Consult with payroll department on payroll deduction pledges Produce acknowledgement cards using Microsoft Word through workflow Consult with Foundation writers on acknowledgement processes Special projects and other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in any field or a combination of education and relevant administrative experience to total four years Demonstrated intermediate computer skills including Word, Excel, Email, Internet Database administration including data entry, data integrity, imaging and indexing Demonstrated ability to download and manipulate data for correspondence and reporting purposes Problem solving skills, research skills Excellent customer service skills, including written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated experience working with confidential material and data integrity Strong attention to detail Preferred Experience working in a team environment Experience in gift processing / gift administration Experience working with a non-profit or banking environment About the Department At the University of Minnesota Foundation (UMF), our mission is to connect passion with possibility, inspire generosity, and support greatness at the University of Minnesota by placing donors at the heart of everything we do and every decision we make.
