Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the philanthropic heart of Broadway, is looking for a graphic designer who can wow us with their work in digital, motion, video and print. The right person will help us expand and enhance the ways we tell our story and connect with supporters and donors.
Our graphic designers work in-house on a wide variety of Broadway Cares events and projects across platforms. Reporting to the art director, the designer will be responsible for concepting and executing digital, motion-based and illustrated pieces, as well as print designs. The designer must be comfortable collaboratively brainstorming ideas to find the winning solution that will help garner attention, increase donations and engage the community.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Design and develop high-quality key art, including promotional posters, banners, programs and assets for both print and digital formats, ensuring each design aligns with the brand's identity and appeals to the target audience
Contribute to conceptual ideas, team brainstorms and social media initiatives
Collaborate with the art director, the communications team and other stakeholders to understand campaign objectives, target audience and visual direction, translating those insights into impactful key art concepts
Produce compelling 360 campaigns for Broadway Cares events and projects that can adapt for all media, including social campaigns, event banners, posters, postcards, invitations, signage, program ads, etc.
Maintain brand consistency across all visual assets by adhering to established brand guidelines while exploring creative ways to elevate the brand image.
Use advanced skills in photo editing, manipulation and illustration to create visually stunning compositions, ensuring that every element in the design contributes to the overall narrative and aesthetic
Positively receive feedback from art director and stakeholders, refining designs accordingly and delivering final assets that meet both creative and strategic objectives
Stay up-to-date with current design trends, visual storytelling techniques,and industry best practices to bring fresh and innovative ideas to every project
Assist in design maintenance of broadwaycares.org and dradance.org as needed (e.g. supplying photos, logos, etc.)
Participate with the entire Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS staff in Red Bucket appeals that traditionally take place on Broadway for two six-week fundraising periods, which occur in the evening and on weekends
Participate in major and minor fundraising events, some of which occur in the evening and on weekends
Qualifications
Proven professional experience (3-5 years) in a design role, with a strong portfolio showcasing key art and promotional design work
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) and other design software
Strong understanding of visual storytelling, typography, color theory and composition
Experience in designing for both digital and print media
Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to take direction and incorporate feedback effectively
A keen eye for detail and a passion for creating visually striking designs that capture attention and drive engagement
Familiarity with tools such as Slack, Monday and Google Drive
Knowledge of printing and prepress procedures a plus
Knowledge of and experience in photography and social media a plus
Passion for the mission of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and an appreciation for the performing arts
Flexibility, drive and a sense of humor
An affection for dogs
Preferred Skills
Experience with motion graphics or video editing (After Effects or similar software)
Familiarity with web design and digital advertising formats
Familiarity with WordPress, HTML, CSS, JQuery or JavaScript
Experience in entertainment and Broadway

Salary $65,000-$75,000 per year
