PARAEDUCATOR
6.5 hrs./day
Paraeducators provide support and assistance to teachers in the classroom. They help manage students, provide individualized attention, reinforce learning, and assist with lesson implementation. Paraeducators often work with students who have special needs, helping them with academic tasks, behavior management and social skills. Their role is essential in creating an inclusive and effective learning environment for all students.
PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides academic support under supervision of classroom teacher Provide behavioral interventions for students when needed Follow teacher instructions and plan of classroom schedules, working independently at times Maintain confidentiality of student information Establish and maintain positive rapport with staff, students, and parents Supervise students in the lunchroom and playground. Participate in training activities Perform other duties as assigned by teacher or administrator
REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 18 yrs of age or older Associate degree or higher, 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher or a qualifying score on ETS paraeducator assessment Successful completion of fingerprinting and background check History of good attendance
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to work independently and cooperatively with staff and students Experience working with children recommended but not required.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Ability to lift 50 pounds Job requires daily work in noisy and active environments both indoors and outdoors.
