Position Overview:
Smith Medical Clinic seeks an enthusiastic and results-driven Chief Development Officer to lead our donor engagement and fundraising initiatives. This individual will play a critical role in sustaining and growing financial support for the clinic's mission to provide free medical care to low-income, uninsured residents of Georgetown County. This position is ideal for someone with a passion for nonprofit fundraising, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a flexible, part-time schedule.
Key Responsibilities: Annual Giving Program: Design, coordinate, and execute the annual giving campaign, ensuring goals are met or exceeded. Track and analyze donor trends to inform future campaign strategies. Planned Giving: Promote planned giving opportunities to current and potential donors. Assist donors in understanding the benefits of legacy gifts and work with professional advisors to finalize arrangements. Donor Stewardship: Cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors. Develop and implement strategies to engage and retain donors, including personalized thank-you letters, updates, and recognition initiatives. Online Giving: Manage and grow online giving efforts through digital platforms, including the clinic's website, email campaigns, and social media. Monitor and report online giving metrics to improve outreach and engagement. Special Fundraising Campaigns: Plan and execute appeals for Giving Day, Palmetto Giving Day, and other special fundraising initiatives. Create compelling messaging and ensure broad outreach across multiple channels. Develop Innovative Fundraising Campaigns: Design and implement creative and inclusive fundraising strategies to attract a diverse range of donors, from small contributors to major gifts. Research and apply best practices in fundraising innovation to expand the donor base and ensure long-term sustainability. Event Assistance: Collaborate with the Gala Chair and other team members to support fundraising events, including logistics, sponsorship acquisition and recognition, and post-event donor follow-up. Database Management: Ensure accuracy of donor records in the clinic’s donor management system. Generate reports on donor activity and fundraising performance as needed. Qualifications: Proven experience in fundraising, donor relations, or a related field (nonprofit experience preferred). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in donor management software (experience with Bloomerang is a plus). Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Knowledge of fundraising best practices, including annual campaigns, special giving days, planned giving, event fundraising, and innovative donor engagement strategies. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when needed. Schedule and Compensation: Part-time position: 15 - 20 hours per week with flexible scheduling. Pay: Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience.
