Corewell Health, Grand Rapids, Michigan, us, 49528

Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital / Michigan State University College of Human Medicine is seeking a full-time Academic Pediatric Hospitalist to join our growing team!

This is an outstanding opportunity to join our dynamic group of more than 20 hospitalists at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital (HDVCH), a 241-bed tertiary care referral center with approximately 11,000 pediatric admissions per year, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We are home to a large pediatrics residency program and 7 pediatric fellowship programs, including our Pediatric Hospital Medicine fellowship, now in its seventh year. Our faculty are heavily involved with teaching medical students, residents, and fellows both at the bedside and in the classroom, as well as with quality improvement, administration, operations, and research.

Clinically, our team provides 24/7 in-house coverage on predominantly academic resident and fellow run teams. Responsibilities include leading academic resident teams on the inpatient and well newborn services, providing consultation and co-management to the surgical teams, and rounding at our partnering inpatient pediatric rehabilitation center, Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital. Newborn nursery responsibilities include circumcisions but exclude delivery attendance as we are supported by 24/7 in-house NICU coverage for deliveries.

The position includes an academic appointment with Michigan State University College of Human Medicine; academic rank will be commensurate with experience.

Applicants should demonstrate a record of excellent clinical skills, a passion for medical education, and a collaborative approach to caring for complex patients. An ideal candidate would have experience in quality improvement or clinical research, and dissemination of scholarly output is expected.

Candidates must be board-certified/board-eligible in Pediatrics, and ideal candidates would be board-eligible or certified in Pediatric Hospital Medicine but this is not required.
