Job Description

The role of the Manufacturing Estimator is to develop quotes for various projects and customer orders delivered by the Director of Business Development, Project Team Leaders, and directly from customers. These projects and customer orders include but are not limited to pre-engineered assembly projects, fabrication, machining, powder coating, fencing, and spare parts. Manufacturing Estimator will report directly to the president, however much of the direction on projects will come from the Director of Business Development, the Project Team Leaders, or Department Team Leaders. The Manufacturing Estimator will be asked to assist with the development and training of new team members.

Responsibilities
  • Estimating & Quoting - Receive RFQ’s and determine our ability to complete the project. Using customer prints and drawings, work with the production team leaders, to estimate manufacturing time. Work with vendors to gather quotes for raw material and needed components. Develop the final quote and review with the DBD to submit to the customer.
  • Customer Interaction – Interact with customers while developing product estimates and closing new business.
  • Job profitability – Assist with monitoring the scope, schedule, and budget of orders throughout the manufacturing process to ensure orders can be delivered on-time, within scope and budget. Assist with compiling profitability reports on each at their completion.
  • Meetings - Attend weekly manufacturing project team meetings and provide updates on active quotes and orders.
  • Knowledge of shop floor processes as required to estimate product cost with the support from department Team Leaders.
  • Engineering - Ability to view 2D and 3D modeling software to access, review, and print customer prints and drawings is a plus.
  • Assist with changes or issues to the order, schedule, and costs. Update the manufacturing project team and customer accordingly.
  • Maintain strong relationships with the team, existing customers, vendors and assist with identifying new opportunities while supporting marketing efforts in developing new business.
  • Coordinate with production manager and manufacturing project team to cover for planned time off.

Requirements
  • A good understanding of our capabilities and strong analytical skills to determine our ability to complete potential jobs. Machining, fabrication, and general metal working experience is a plus.
  • Strong project management skills including communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and eager to learn AutoCAD, 3D viewing software, and ERP.
  • Adaptability to changing project requirements and schedules.
