POSITION SUMMARY

The Custodian/Housekeeper plays a key role in supporting the mission of Facilities Maintenance by ensuring a high-quality, clean, and aesthetically pleasing physical environment. This role supports the campus community's learning, teaching, public service, safety, and health needs by delivering comprehensive building and grounds maintenance services in a cost-effective and proactive manner. Under the supervision of the Chief Operations Officer, the Custodian/Housekeeper performs a variety of custodial and general housekeeping duties, including the care, cleaning, and stocking of supplies in campus buildings, offices, and laboratory areas. Please note, this position does not offer health benefits.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cleaning guest rooms/offices: Making beds, changing linens, cleaning bathrooms (toilets, sinks, tubs), dusting furniture, wiping down surfaces, and removing trash.
• Floor care: Vacuuming carpets, sweeping and mopping hard floors
• Bathroom cleaning: Sanitizing toilets, sinks, mirrors, and replenishing toiletries
• Public area cleaning: Dusting furniture, wiping down surfaces, cleaning windows and mirrors in common areas
• Stock management: Replenishing supplies like towels, toilet paper, soap, and other amenities in guest rooms and public areas
• Reporting issues: Identifying and reporting maintenance needs, damage, or safety concerns
• Following cleaning procedures: Adhering to established cleaning standards and chemical usage guidelines

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of an associate degree required.
• One to three years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

• Attention to detail and ability to maintain a high standard of cleanliness.
• Physical stamina to perform repetitive cleaning tasks.
• Ability to work independently and follow a cleaning schedule.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures
• Customer service skills to interact with guests or building occupants.
• Ability to lift and move heavy items.
