Electronic Technician Supervisor - Starting salary is $29.53/hourly
A valid Louisiana Class “B” Commercial License may be required on hire depending on Career Progression Level and is required to attain permanent status.
No Civil Service test scoreis required in order to be considered for this vacancy.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Four years of experience or training in the maintenance or repair of mechanical or electronic office equipment, precision machinery, or electronic/electrical systems; OR
Four years of experience or training in the installation, repair, or maintenance of computer equipment or systems (hardware and/or software); OR
Possession of a CompTIA A+ Certification plus one of the following:

Three years of experience in the maintenance or repair of mechanical or electronic office equipment, precision machinery, or electronic/electrical systems; OR
-
Three years of experience in the installation, repair, or maintenance of computer equipment or systems (hardware and/or software).
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every six semester hours earned from an accredited college or university in electronics or computer science will substitute for one year of the required experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess an appropriate Federal Communications Commission (FCC) radio-telephone license when working with marine and aviation transmitting equipment or with radar.

Consults with administrative officials regarding acquisition of new equipment.
Reads and interprets electric and electronic schematics and mechanical layouts during diagnosis and repair of equipment.
Makes estimates of repairs to determine if feasible.
Provides visual inspections of television equipment, checking for safety defects and repairing as required.
Maintains an inventory of parts for immediate and emergency repairs.
Performs diagnosis and repairs on electronic and mechanical equipment.
Performs preventive maintenance operations as required on a periodic basis.
Reviews work of subordinates and makes assignments.
Handles most complicated repair jobs.
Supervises installation, maintenance, and repair of microwaves, data communications, digital telephone equipment and data acquisition (SCADA) system, marine radar, radios, and other electronic systems on bridges and marine vessels.
Engineers and designs new communication systems and subsystems.
JOB DUTIES
60% Supervise, schedule and assist with the daily activities of lower level staff responsible for the maintenance, repairs and preventative maintenance operations on electronic traffic controller equipment, equipment installations, and repairs of traffic signals, controllers, modems, conflict monitors, circuit boards, pavement loop detectors, video detection cameras, interconnects, RR preemptions, and wire or pole mounted signs as required on a daily basis. Addresses complaints from the public and issues assignments to staff based on logistics and complexity. The incumbent manages the necessary equipment and manpower to complete a job. Obtain training which is listed in PPM #59 for this position, and additional training as required by the Transportation Operations Manager, Traffic Operations. Ensure that employees receive updated training courses that will further enhance their skills and knowledge in traffic signal technology. Conduct coaching sessions with employees as necessary. Provide leadership to crew members in the safe and economical operation of signal equipment.
10% Supervise and assist crews with emergency call-outs, (signal outages or controller malfunctions) to ensure continuous operations of traffic signals in the sub-district. Required to operate a 40-foot boom and use testing equipment to troubleshoot electronic problems. Incumbent is responsible for managing the inventory of signal equipment and materials and ensures that the materials are always available to perform daily operations. Generate and periodically update a troubleshooting guide for employees to follow while out working on traffic signals.
10% Verify and approve payroll, daily work orders, overtime hours earned and employee leave. Tracks the amount of leave taken by employees. Assist the Administrative Coordinator with daily work reports for proper coding of log miles, control sections, material usage, milepost, locations of work, equipment usage, hours of work, work functions and description codes. Position Description SCS will keep this document for six (6) years. Page 2 of 3 Required to input data in Linear Assets (Agile) by tablet or personal computer by the end of each work day. Operate a personal computer for various functions such as emails, performance evaluations and material request forms.
10% Assist in examining the installations of equipment and systems under contract. Inspects computerized traffic signal equipment, examine TSI data, electrical blueprints, and document changes in inventory or timings. Perform programming and program changes on computerized traffic signal controllers and equipment. Locate underground signal wires for contractors prior to any excavating work. Coordinate with contractors and Section 45 in replacing or upgrading traffic control systems and faulty detection devices. Oversee the installation/reinstallation of underground cable.
5% Ensure proper use and maintenance of vehicles and equipment assigned to the unit. Complete loss prevention forms such employee injury, motor vehicle accident/incident, and medical treatment forms. Investigate workers accidents. Collects and examines monthly vehicle inspections and vehicle logs for accuracy. Schedules repair and enforces preventative maintenance practices. Conduct building inspections, security inspections, fire drills and safety meetings.
5% May be required to perform other duties as necessary including but not limited to emergency/disaster response support activity.
