The Executive Director, Strategic Support for the Office of the CEO plays a crucial role in supporting the CEO's strategic objectives and provides strategic support to the executive office. The incumbent will report administratively to the System General Counsel with direct accountability to the CEO, serving as a key partner, helping to manage priorities, streamline processes, and facilitate communication across departments. This position also serves as Assistant Corporate Secretary, working closely with the Corporate Secretary to ensure that the Board is well-informed, engaged, and aligned with the organization's goals and strategic initiatives. Will manage all aspects of board communication, coordination, and relationship-building, helping to facilitate transparency, accountability, and mutual understanding.
Primary responsibilities: Strategic Planning:
Work closely with the CEO and executive team to ensure alignment between board priorities and organizational goals. Provide insights and recommendations to help shape strategic decision-making and drive long-term success. Assist the CEO and executive team in developing and implementing strategic initiatives to advance organizational goals. Executive Team Coordination:
Organize the Executive Leadership Team around shared goals, facilitating weekly Strategic Enterprise Oversight Group meetings, bi-weekly Executive Committee meetings, and monthly Department Chiefs meetings. Board Communication:
Primary point of contact for all communication between the executive team and the board of directors. Ensure timely and accurate dissemination of information, including meeting agendas, briefing materials, reports, and updates. Meeting Management:
Coordinate logistics for board and board committee meetings, including scheduling, venue selection, and recording of minutes. Prepare meeting agendas in collaboration with the executive team and ensure that materials are provided to board members in advance. Relationship Management:
Cultivate strong relationships with board members, fostering trust, respect, and open dialogue. Act as a bridge between the Board and executive leadership, facilitating communication and collaboration on key issues and strategic initiatives. Serve as a liaison between the executive office and internal and external stakeholders. Governance Support:
Support the Board in fulfilling its governance responsibilities, including compliance with relevant laws, regulations, policies, and ethical guidelines. Assist in developing and implementing governance best practices, policies, and procedures. Board Development:
Coordinate Board orientation and training sessions for new members, ensuring that they are well-equipped to fulfill their roles and responsibilities. Identify opportunities for Board development and education to enhance overall effectiveness. To qualify, you must have: BA degree in Business, Communications or related field (MA preferred), plus a minimum of 10 years' experience. Proven experience in board relations and corporate governance. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others. Excellent organizational and project management abilities, with a focus on detail and accuracy. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences. Strategic mindset, with the ability to understand complex issues and contribute to informed decision-making. Demonstrated ability to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and integrity in all board and executive-related activities. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines on board governance and communication. Proficiency in MS Office suite and board management software platforms.
