Summary: This National Guard position is for an IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), Position Description Number D2524000 and is part of G6, Nebraska Army National Guard. INDEFINITE EMPLOYMENT IS TEMPORARY IN NATURE AND WILL LAST MORE THAN ONE YEAR BUT NO MORE THAN SIX YEARS. BENEFITS ARE THE SAME AS A PERMANENT APPOINTMENT. THIS POSITION MAY CONVERT TO PERMANENT WITHOUT FURTHER COMPETITION.
Responsibilities: As an IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), GS-2210-9/11, duties include:
- Conduct audits of information systems compliance, including network devices, servers, and end-user devices, ensuring accreditation of all systems IAW with command, Army, and DOD security directives, policies, and procedures.
- Review Army Training and Certification Tracking System, approve new user accounts, and conduct ongoing audits to ensure compliance with Army Standards.
- Investigate security incidents, report findings to leadership, and remediate findings based on guidance from the cybersecurity service provider.
- Review submissions to Change Configuration Board and make recommendations to senior cybersecurity team lead.
- Maintain an operational knowledge base of past, current, and emerging threats to the security posture through continuous education and information sharing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is a Title 32 excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
Qualifications:
General Experience: Experience, education, or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles.
Specialized Experience:
- GS-09: 1 year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade.
- GS-11: 1 year experience at the previous lower grade or equivalent experience.
Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management, or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in the fields identified above.
Additional Information: Must obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance level. This is an Information Assurance Workforce position. All certifications are required within 6 months of employment.
