JOB DESCRIPTION:
Elementary Locations: Glebe (PreK Developmental), Randolph (MIPA), Fleet (DHH/Life skills/Interlude), Abingdon, and Discovery

Secondary Locations: Dorothy Hamm MS and Washington Liberty HS, Shriver

Program Dates: July 7, 2025 - August 1, 2025

Professional Days and Orientation: July 1, 2, and 3 (3rd is ½ day only)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Providing speech and language therapy (both direct and indirect) per student's IEP

Work with families directly to determine a mutually agreed upon location to provide services for students who only have Extended School Year on their IEP and not attending APS Summer School

Consulting with building staff regarding implementation of student's IEP

Reviewing any student information prior to implementation of ESY IEP goals and services (ex. Health plan, BIP)

Implementing and monitoring IEP goals, objectives and accommodations.

Maintaining current and appropriate student data records.

Supporting assistive technology services.

Writing clear and concise reports of progress during ESY.

Communicating effectively with students, staff, and parents

EXPERIENCE:
Working with students with speech and language disabilities

Implementing evidence-based practices

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a current license through the Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.

SALARY:
Summer School Teachers who are APS employees during the year will be paid their hourly rate or $36.68 per hour., whichever is higher. (Please note Salary earned relative to summer school employment will not be included in the employee's creditable compensation amount reported to the Virginia Retirement System (VRS).) Retired APS teachers will be paid $49.29 per hour per APS pay plan. Non-APS licensed summer school teachers will be paid $36.68 per hour.
