Position Summary
Is this position exempt from overtime pay?
Yes
Licensed and Certified Speech-Language Pathologists are needed to provide special education services for ESY.
Elementary:
July 1-3: Proposed Teacher Workdays at Sites
July 7-31: Window of Instructional Days and Clean Up
Secondary:
July 1: Faculty Meeting
July 2- August 5: Secondary Summer School Session (Closed July 4)
August 7: Secondary Summer School Graduation
Program times and locations vary. Your acceptance of a summer position requires that you report to work for the entire session. No paid leave is granted during the summer session and staff does not receive benefits of the regular school year (i.e. sick leave, business leave, vacation days, etc.).
ESY staff must make a commitment to be present for the ENTIRE program including all in-service days, workdays, and student instructional days. Failure to make this commitment may impact future employment with the ESY program.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities?
No

1. Provides services for ESY as indicated on a student's IEP.
2. Develops and implements appropriate therapeutic activities according to identified ESY goals/objectives.
3. Assists with implementation of collaborative activities with other professionals.
4. Assists other professionals in supporting students' communication needs.
5. Maintains current and accurate data collection regarding student performance and attendance.
6. Maintains effective parent/school communication.
7. Prepares and distributes progress notes at the end of the session.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education
• Certification in Speech and Language Pathology as required by Maryland State Department of Education.
• Active Maryland State License from the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH).
• Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) from the American-Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Working knowledge of AACPS special education student database - TIENET.
• Ability to use technology, (laptops, desktops, specialized assessment and data analysis software).
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
• Ability to employ a variety of teaching styles to respond to the needs of diverse learners.
