Baystate Health is a not-for-profit, integrated healthcare system in western Massachusetts which consists of an academic medical center, three community hospitals and the regions largest multispecialty group.  Our flagship hospital, Baystate Medical Center, is home to the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School-Baystate.  We are seeking a Specialist in General Ob/Gyn to serve as Division Chief of General Ob/Gyn.

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • As the Chief of General Ob/Gyn, you will guide and oversee the operations of a dynamic team of 21 generalist ob/gyn physicians and 12 ambulatory advanced practice clinicians. Collaborating closely with the Chair of Obstetrics-Gynecology, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the institutions mission and delivering exceptional care to a diverse and underserved patient population.
  • The division includes sub-specialists in Complex Family Planning and Pediatric/Adolescent gynecology.
  • Join a multidisciplinary environment that thrives on teamwork, partnering with a robust midwifery division, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, and a newly formed OB hospitalist division to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care.
  • Drive strategic innovation for the general ob/gyn division in alignment with institutional goals, while developing your leadership skills and professional interests.
  • Lead, mentor, and support faculty development while promoting continuous improvement in quality, safety, and patient experience.

DEPARTMENT HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Be part of a department recognized for its integration and collaboration, working alongside the regions largest midwifery division of 20+ experienced CNMs. Together, deliver holistic care to a diverse and underserved community.
  • Our division benefits from comprehensive support in maternal-fetal medicine, urogynecology, gynecologic oncology, fellowship-trained MIGS and reproductive endocrinology and infertility.
  • With a strong focus on minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, our division handles approximately 600 deliveries annually.

 

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE:

  • Engage with the UMass Chan School of Medicines new regional campus, fostering academic growth and mentoring ob/gyn residents, fellows, and medical students. Our program includes 24 Ob/Gyn residents and offers fellowship opportunities in Urogynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
  • Contribute to interprofessional education, as we are the only ob/gyn residency in the US co-located with a Midwifery Education Program.

Qualifications:  American Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Minimum of 3 years clinical experience post-residency, demonstrating strong and comprehensive clinical skills in both obstetrics and gynecology, with a particular emphasis on gynecology (preferred). Proven experience supervising individuals or teams, such as clerkship or other leadership roles. Prior management experience in a healthcare setting, ideally in an integrated care model with midwifery collaboration.
