POSITION SUMMARY:
The accounting manager is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to produce accurate and timely financial reports, ensuring appropriate accounting control procedures are followed with the supervision of junior staff, and providing analysis of financial information.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the activities of Financial Reporting for accurate and timely financial reports including, but not limited to financial reporting of CBES, CBES Development LLC, Eldercare Alliance, internal financial statements, and annual audit schedules.
- Supervise the Payroll, and Accounts Payable functions, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of monthly billing, bi-weekly payroll, and accounts payable with cash management.
- Assist in the preparation of compliance reporting including Uniform Financial Report (UFR), Form 5500, Form 990, Form PC, and other statutory financial reports.
- Review monthly Provider Billing, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of provider invoices and retro payments.
- Supervise the Accounts Receivable staff and oversee the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable, aging, including billings, cash receipts application, etc.
- Manage the monthly closing process including review of account reconciliations and journal entries to ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
- Support and manage budget and forecast activities including variance analysis.
- Prepare materials for the annual financial audit and assist in managing the audit process for all entities.
- Develop and train fiscal staff including temporary staff as needed.
- Develop and maintain financial databases for historical analysis and reporting
- Analyze financial information to advise on business operations including revenue and expenditure trends, client trends, financial commitments, and future revenues
- Assist the Controller to establish and monitor the application of accounting control procedures and implement system improvements
- Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
- Assist in preparation of monthly Board of Directors reporting package.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in accounting
- Two to four years prior supervisory experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area.
- Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast-paced setting. Working Knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Solomon preferred, and other relevant financial software programs accepted.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles and applicable laws, codes, and regulations
- Ability to work effectively with peers, subordinates, and superiors.
- Ability to assess current procedures and improve information flow through the implementation of best practices.
- Experience managing employees within the department to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediating fair and workable solutions
- Experience in the management of financial systems and budgets, financial reporting, financial data analysis, auditing, and providing financial analysis is desirable
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:
- Ability to lift and carry objects frequently weighing up to 10 to 15 pounds.
- Ability to climb stairs.
- Ability to travel to the community.
- Work requires regularly standing, stooping, and bending.
