$100,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year OUR MISSION SMASH is dedicated to ensuring that musicians have access to quality healthcare services and support, allowing them to focus on their craft and well-being. Recognizing the unique health challenges faced by musicians, we provide medical resources, preventive care, mental health support, navigation and wellness programs to this vital yet often underserved community. THE OPPORTUNITY This is a pivotal time for SMASH as we seek an Executive Director (ED) to drive our organization forward. The ED will be a dynamic and inspiring leader who will lead SMASH in fulfilling its mission, expanding its reach, and increasing its impact within the music community. The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of nonprofit leadership experience, financial acumen, and a passion for improving healthcare access for musicians. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The Executive Director will be responsible for setting and executing the strategic direction of SMASH, working closely with the Board of Directors and managing a dedicated team of staff and volunteers. Key areas of responsibility include: Strategic Leadership and Vision Develop and implement a clear, strategic vision that aligns with the organization's mission and goals Inspire staff, volunteers, and stakeholders to embrace and advance the organization’s vision and initiatives Act as a spokesperson for SMASH, raising awareness about musicians’ healthcare needs and building relationships within the music, healthcare, and philanthropic communities Financial Management and Fundraising Develop a long-term sustainability plan for the organization Oversee the organization’s finances, including budgeting, financial forecasting, coordinating external regulatory filings, and financial reporting to the Board Drive fundraising efforts, securing diverse sources of funding through grants, major gifts, sponsorships, and events Develop and maintain relationships with donors, foundations, corporate sponsors, and other financial partners, cultivating long-term support for SMASH Staff and Volunteer Leadership Lead, mentor, and support the staff team, promoting a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment Recruit, onboard, and support a dedicated team of volunteers who play a key role in the organization’s success Program Development and Oversight In collaboration with SMASH’s Member Services Manager, oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the musician community Community and Stakeholder Engagement In collaboration with SMASH’s Member Services Manager, grow SMASH’s membership and increase service utilization Increase awareness of SMASH within the music and healthcare communities, building connections and partnerships that advance the mission Represent SMASH in the media, at conferences, and in the community, serving as an ambassador for the organization IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE Leadership Experience:
At least 5-7 years of experience in a senior leadership role, ideally in a nonprofit or healthcare-focused organization Fundraising Expertise:
A demonstrable track record in nonprofit fundraising, with experience in donor relations, grant writing, and corporate sponsorships Communication and Relationship-Building Skills:
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Financial Management Skills:
Strong financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation Program Development and Evaluation:
Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating impactful programs Passion for Music and Health:
A deep understanding and appreciation of the challenges faced by musicians COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS SMASH offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, as well as a benefits package that includes health insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for professional development. The position is full-time, primarily remote, with occasional in-person meetings and events. Evening and weekend work will be required periodically to attend industry events. Salary range:
