We are committed to the success of every child. The BPS CMO exists to provide operational, leadership, and strategic services to the schools in the Breakthrough Schools network. The CMO is committed to providing high-quality services to the schools and bolstering the high-impact performance of the schools, making the CMO and network greater than the sum of its parts. The CMO provides economies of scale when it comes to staffing, tools, and time-based efficiencies. We serve 3,000 K-8 grade scholars across five campuses and employ over 450 staff members. POSITION SUMMARY The Managing Director of Student Services ensures Breakthrough is having the most significant impact on scholars and families with the greatest needs by overseeing a myriad of areas directly related to scholar success and achievement. They are an advocate and expert in serving diverse learners and are steadfast in their commitment to the success of every scholar. The Managing Director of Student Services deeply understands special education systems, compliance, and student interventions. This role, though Network-based, interfaces significantly with campus-based staff as they orchestrate critical functional areas for the organization. The Managing Director of Student Services reports to the Chief Academic Officer and manages a diverse cross-functional team of specialists, including Special Education, English as a New Language, Related Services, and Wrap-around Services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Strategic Leadership Develop and implement a comprehensive vision for student services across the Breakthrough network, ensuring alignment with BPS goals and academic standards. Lead the design and implementation of data-driven strategies to identify and address student needs, monitor progress, and make necessary adjustments. Collaborate with School Leaders to integrate student support services seamlessly into the school culture and curriculum. Team Leadership Manages a team of Home Office-based compliance managers, who are primarily responsible for writing Individual Education Plans and 504 plans, and overseeing their implementation. Manages the Director of Student Support Services, who leads our English as a New Language program and MTSS interventions Manages the Director of Regulatory Compliance and the contracted services of RSPs. Works in partnership with the Head of Schools (school management) and Chief Academic Officer to monitor and modify intervention programming. Collaborates with the Managing Director of Academics and the Director of Curriculum and Coaching, Special Education to ensure that scholars’ academic needs are met and that school leaders and instructional staff develop the necessary expertise to achieve excellent results for students. Scholar Services and Administrative Oversight Tracks implementation of academic and behavioral interventions to ensure efforts are being documented. Trains school leaders on the SST processes and expectations for execution at the campus level. Review relevant dashboard data to ensure the timely identification of appropriate scholars for the SST process. Works with the Student Services Team and school-based leadership to appropriately and effectively facilitate eligibility of scholars for special education services. Provides network oversight to campuses to ensure that interventions occur and are monitored across the network. Intervention Oversight Builds and oversees a network-wide approach to individualized and small-group remediation and acceleration. Champions a culture amongst instructional staff and leadership of data-driven re-teaching of content to ensure all scholars master the standards. Utilizes data collected through a variety of sources (formal and informal assessments) to help instructional leaders and staff identify and group scholars in need of additional support. Analyzes potential and existing intervention programs to ensure effectiveness. Oversees the alignment of all intervention tools used across the network (i.e. online tools, teacher-created tools, and results). Professional Development Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for student services staff to enhance their skills and knowledge Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the student services team Data Analysis and Reporting Regularly analyze student data to identify trends and inform decision-making regarding student support services Prepare reports for school leadership and stakeholders on the effectiveness of student services initiatives Skills and Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty accurately.
