Position Type: Maintenance/Custodial/Custodian Date Posted: 12/20/2024 Location: Box Elder, SD Date Available: 2024/2025 School Year Closing Date: Open until filled District: Douglas School District VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT 12/20/2024 NIGHT CUSTODIAN (5 POSITIONS AVAILABLE) 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR DOUGLAS SCHOOL DISTRICT 51-1 POSITION TITLE & DETAILS TITLE BUILDING CUSTODIAN/BUILDING CUSTODIAN FLOATER WORK DAYS 260 REPORTS TO Coordinator of Buildings and Grounds SALARY SCHEDULE Per Classified Handbook SUPERVISES None GROUP Classified EVALUATION By Coordinator of Buildings and Grounds, utilizing the adopted district process DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs routine minor maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, and manual labor associated with the cleaning and maintaining of buildings. Duties include, but not limited to: sweeping, mopping or scrubbing and polishing floors, removing trash and other refuse, dusting equipment, furniture and fixtures, polishing metal, providing supplies and minor maintenance service, clean and disinfect lavatories, shower and restrooms, shoveling snow or mowing grass, checking lights, windows, doors, boilers and securing buildings. Ability to demonstrate proper use, care for, clean, maintain and organize tools and equipment. Properly uses/handles cleaning chemicals, following manufacture directions, proper dilution and safe handling according to Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Maintains a clean, well-organized custodian workroom, closet, storage and mechanical room. Assists school district staff or guests in preparing displays, programs, or other scheduled/unscheduled events as required. Assists building maintenance personnel or other custodial personnel as needed to maintain a clean, safe environment. Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and through email. Ensures a hazard-free environment for students, staff and himself/herself. Performs assigned duties in a manner that promotes a pleasant atmosphere conducive to a professional work environment. Able to complete cleaning, maintenance and recurring maintenance schedules accurately and on a timely basis. Complies with and supports school district policies. Maintains harmonious relationships with co-workers, staff and students. Maintains his/her person and work clothing in a clean well-groomed manner. Provides for his/her own professional growth. Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Building and Grounds.
