We are seeking a Database Architect responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a cloud and/or container-based database architecture and infrastructure to support the development, sustainment, and operational needs of the applications and capabilities. This role is critical to ensuring system reliability, data integrity, and performance optimization across various intelligence and defense applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement database solutions that are scalable, performant, and secure, aligning with DIA's mission requirements and IT data architecture standards.
  • Work closely with application developers, solution architects, Information Systems Security Officers (ISSO), and technical leads to build and integrate data polyglot(s) with other applications and ensure secure and seamless data flow and accessibility.
  • Conduct technical research and analysis of alternatives to identify technically and functionally advantageous approaches to identify database solutions that satisfy government validated functional requirements.
  • Integrate database architectures with government-specified technologies including, but not limited to, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Mongo DB, graph database engines, ElasticSearch, and caching technologies like Redis.
  • Build and manage Not Only SQL (NOSQL) database solutions, such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or Amazon DynamoDB with an understanding of the different types of NOSQL databases and when to use them based on the application requirements. This includes knowledge of designing and configuring NoSQL schemas, performing CRUD operations, and managing data replication and distribution in NoSQL databases.
  • Ensure developed capabilities are compatible with the network operating environment and architecture identified by the government.
  • Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to accommodate multiple intelligence domains and understand complexities of data transfer between the domains.
  • Collaborate with the ISSO to manage and update all authority to operate (ATO) documentation and processes in accordance with DIA policies and guidance.
  • Provide Tier 2 and 3 help desk support as defined by the government, potentially requiring multiple shifts to cover operations up to 24 hours per day.
