Compensation Range: $32.07 - $33.48/hour

($.75 per hour increase for Leadperson)

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Under the direction of the Foreperson and Senior Maintenance Manager Plans, explains, coordinates, and prioritizes carpentry duties necessary to maintain District facilities using standard carpentry tools and power-driven woodworking and metalworking machinery and equipment. Assumes the Foreperson’s role when the Foreperson is absent from duty. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies and the mission statement, beliefs, objectives, and parameters found in the Board’s strategic plan.

Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure an efficient and effective work environment.

Performs general carpentry including repair, construction, and remodeling work.

Constructs, repairs, installs, and maintains doors, floors, windows, partitions, roofs, ceilings, and walls.

Installs and repairs lock and key systems; replaces broken, worn, or damaged hardware.

Constructs, builds, installs, and repairs; shelves, computer tables, countertops, closets, screens and screen doors, windows and lunch tables, and cuts, planes, and joints lumber.

Operates saws, jointers, planers, mortising machines, sanders, drill presses, lathes, electric and battery-powered tools, vertical and aerial lifts, and other equipment necessary to perform required duties.

Collaborates with project managers, architects, and other trades to align with project goals.

Conducts regular inspections to ensure accuracy, precision, and quality

Ensures compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and company standards.

Monitors work performance, conducts expectations, and uphold craftsmanship standards.

Provides training and mentoring to enhance team skills.

Plans and coordinates daily work schedules, materials, and resources.

Oversees the construction of structures (framing, roofing, cabinetry, etc.)

Addresses any issues or defects in workmanship promptly.

Other duties as assigned by the foreperson.

In the absence of the foreperson, assigns work orders daily to staff using computerized maintenance management systems and ensures work orders are completed promptly.

In the absence of the foreperson, leads and directs a team of carpenters.

In the absence of the foreperson, assign tasks and ensure understanding of project objectives.

In the absence of the foreperson, ensure projects are completed within the specified timeframe and budget.

QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or G.E.D. from an accredited institution plus two years experience as a carpenter and four years of apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience within the trade. Working knowledge of the standard carpentry practices, processes, materials, and tools of the trade

Ability to read, interpret, and work from drawings, plans, and blueprints.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Working knowledge of occupational hazards, and precautionary, and safety measures.

Ability to multitask, delegate, problem solve, and be effective in decision making.

Knowledge of lock and key, doorways, and door hardware.

WORK CALENDAR: 12 Months WORKING CONDITIONS:

Moderate in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel.
