Duties:
Represent clients in tax litigation cases in the Federal Court of Claims, Tax Court, or U.S. District Court.
Handle refund suits against the federal government, advocating on behalf of taxpayers.
Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and prepare legal arguments for litigation matters.
Manage client relationships, providing strategic counsel and guidance throughout the litigation process.
Work closely with a team of attorneys to develop case strategies and achieve successful outcomes.
Engage in negotiations with tax authorities to resolve disputes efficiently.
Stay informed on changes in tax law and legal precedents impacting client cases.
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in tax litigation, particularly in federal tax dispute cases.
Experience handling refund suits or trial cases involving tax matters is highly desirable.
Former experience with the Department of Justice – Tax Division or IRS Office of Chief Counsel is strongly preferred.
Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining a high level of client service.
Strong legal research and writing skills, with attention to detail and analytical thinking.
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
Active Bar license in any U.S. jurisdiction; California licensure is a plus.
