Summary:
The City of Lawrence is seeking to fill the Deputy City Clerk position. Under the direction of the City Clerk, this position performs a wide variety of responsible, confidential, and complex administrative, technical and clerical duties.
Responsibilities: The Deputy City Clerk fulfills the duties of the City Clerk in their absence and manages the daily operations of the city's business licensing system. This role includes serving as a notary public, ensuring the confidentiality and privacy of records in accordance with legal and organizational policies, and coordinating travel for city staff and external individuals. The Deputy City Clerk may also provide guidance and direction to clerical staff as needed.
Qualifications: Equivalent to a high school diploma with two to four years responsible clerical experience. College coursework or technical education preferred. Excellent customer service skills, strong communication skills, good attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks independently are critical. Direct experience in records management in a public sector or business office setting is preferred. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software. The successful candidate must pass a pass a post-offer City background check, physical and drug screen.
