Leidos Engineering is seeking a talented
Project Manager
to collaborate with lead engineers and account managers while supporting various
electric utility clients . As part of our established Project Management Office within the Power Delivery Solutions division, you will provide consulting services to both public and investor-owned electric utilities, focusing on comprehensive engineering design of electrical transmission, substation, and distribution projects across the nation. This role offers potential remote capabilities, but candidates located near our offices in Chicago IL, Detroit MI, Framingham MA, and Charlotte NC will be given preference to effectively serve our localized utility clients and internal teams. career development and growth opportunities , including: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification Leadership training & management opportunities Formal mentorship programs Professional development & continuing education resources Technical upskilling programs Key Responsibilities: Assist project teams with the engineering design of electric infrastructure projects for utility customers; experienced candidates may lead other project managers and contribute to program/portfolio management. Oversee overall project performance and reporting. Manage project costs, schedules, and scope, including developing recovery plans to meet approved limits. Ensure compliance with contracts. Coordinate and collaborate with Engineering Leads and Managers to track and execute client deliverables. Document adherence to quality control processes. Engage directly with clients and internal management to address issues and report on project progress, costs, schedule adherence, and risks. Communicate effectively with clients, project teams, engineering disciplines, functional leaders, and subcontractors. Assist in preparing bid documents, developing cost estimates, and responding to Requests For Proposal. Handle monthly client invoicing, accruals, and accounts receivable promptly. Support your team in identifying potential business development opportunities. What You'll Bring to the Table (Required Qualifications): Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance, or a related discipline. Mid-Level Candidates: Minimum of 4 years of relevant Project Management experience; Senior Level Candidates: Minimum of 8 years. Experience with project management software (e.g., Workfront, MS Project, P6). Proficient in MS Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), with demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookup, etc.). Experience managing project financials, proposals, scopes, and schedules. Familiarity with various contract types, including Fixed Price and Time & Material. Strong planning, organization, direction, and tracking capabilities for project tasks. Ability to monitor and report on project financial performance. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Prior experience in the electric utility industry or consultancy environments is preferred. You Might Also Have (Preferred Qualifications): PMP Certification is preferred but not required; ideal candidates will be motivated to obtain PMP Certification within two years. Strong organizational skills, analytical/problem-solving abilities, and effective multitasking skills. Operational experience in Microsoft PowerBI. Experience with projects for major US electric utilities. Success in a team-oriented consulting environment. Advanced expertise in Excel is preferred.
