Position Overview:

The Linux Engineer is primarily responsible for design, build, implementation, and support of our growing Linux environment as well as a broad base of other technologies to support our global technology needs. The Linux Engineer will be responsible for ensuring delivery of projects leveraging new, current, and innovative technologies to meet the needs of the firm. In addition, the Engineer will assist in capacity planning, disaster recovery, datacenter management, backups, documentation, server based application support, and tier 3 troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

Staying abreast of emerging technologies to support and facilitate our rapidly expanding and changing environment. Ensure that enterprise computing resources are available to the end users at all times, with a primary focus on Linux. Maintain and manage existing server, network, and application environments. Implement new equipment. Plan and expand the enterprise systems infrastructure. Coordinate systems capabilities the needs of the firm. Work with users to build capability maps for future requirements for the growth of internal systems. Act as technical resource and mentor for junior staff across the firm. Support IT service delivery to the firm's environment on a 24x7 basis, including on-call and maintenance rotations. Assist in delivering successful change management and maintenance scheduling.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree preferred with a minimum of five (5) years of experience is required; Ubuntu Certified Professional (UCP) and/or VMWare VCP a plus

Core technologies/Skills : Linux Server (Ubuntu, Debiain, RHEL); VMware (VSphere, vCloud); Software Container Experience (LXC, Docker, Kubernates); Automation tools (Puppet, vRealize Automation Suite); Storage Area Networks (Hitachi, IBM); Server hardware (Cisco, HP) Secondary technologies : Active Directory (multi-site experience); Windows Server; Cisco Networking (Nexus); IIS/Apache; Microsoft SQL Server; Scripting (Powershell, Bash, Python)

Strong IT operations and engineering background, preferably in a financial services organization. Ability to spot problematic areas, analyze solutions, propose resolutions and direct their implementation Strong technical background, strong written and oral communication skills, project management skills, and the ability to work independently as well as within a team environment. Successful candidates are motivated self-starters with an aptitude for learning new skills and environments quickly while multi-tasking on more than one deliverable. Should be able to lift up to 75 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation.
