Safety, Health, and Environment Manager - Permanent - San Diego
Summary:
This role manages the Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) program, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The manager develops and implements EH&S strategies, fosters a safety-first culture, provides training, and ensures alignment with business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain EH&S strategies aligned with business priorities and regulatory requirements.
Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across the organization.
Track, analyze, and report EH&S metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Provide training and serve as the EH&S subject matter expert for employees and management.
Conduct audits, inspections, and incident investigations to ensure regulatory compliance.
Manage key programs, including worker’s compensation, emergency response, hazardous waste disposal, ergonomics, and ISO 14001 compliance.
Collaborate with legal, HR, and quality assurance teams on policy updates and regulatory responses.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
8+ years of experience managing EH&S programs in regulated manufacturing environments, preferably in life sciences.
HAZWOPER training (24+ hours) required; certifications like ASP/CSP or CIH preferred.
Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
Large Quantity Hazardous Waste generator experience.
