Position Overview:
Deborah Heart and Lung Center is seeking an experienced healthcare executive to serve as Interim Chief Operating Officer (COO). The Interim COO will lead and oversee the hospital's operations and delivery of strategic goals during this critical transition period for the organization. This individual will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless delivery of high-quality care, optimizing operational efficiencies, and supporting the hospital's mission to provide exceptional heart, lung, and vascular services.
The Interim COO will partner closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to advance strategic initiatives, implement performance improvements, and sustain a culture of excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership Oversee the daily operations of the hospital, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements. Drive operational efficiency and maintain high standards of patient care and safety across all service lines, with a focus on heart, lung, and vascular services. Manage departmental leaders to align operational priorities with the hospital's strategic goals. Performance Improvement
Identify and implement strategies to enhance patient outcomes, staff productivity, and financial performance. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational success and address areas for improvement. Champion initiatives to enhance patient satisfaction and team member engagement. Strategic Planning
Support the CEO in the development and execution of the hospital's short-term and long-term operational goals. Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to implement programs that expand service offerings and improve access to care. Contribute to planning efforts aimed at maintaining the hospital's position as a leader in heart, lung, and vascular care. Financial Stewardship
Manage budgets and financial performance for operational departments, identifying opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality. Work closely with the CFO to ensure alignment of operational and financial goals. Change Management
Lead operational transitions, including potential restructuring, workflow optimization, and technology implementations. Ensure effective communication and collaboration across all levels of the organization during the interim period. Qualifications:
Master's degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field. 20+ years of progressive leadership experience in hospital operations with prior experience in a COO or equivalent role. Proven track record in managing heart, lung, and vascular service lines. Expertise in regulatory compliance, performance improvement, and financial management. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Ability to drive change and maintain stability during transitional periods.
