Deputy Treasurer I

GENERAL PURPOSE:
To perform all functions involved in the collection and accounting of all County Funds. To collect certain other money for the account of County and State Government, and other taxing units.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the general supervision of the Treasurer.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
None
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
Reconcile bank statements for various accounts. Knowledge of computer spreadsheets including Excel as well as other commonly used software used in an office setting. Ability to clearly convey instructions, often over the telephone and works closely with public in collection of property taxes. Must be able to work a flexible schedule. May need to cover for other employees who are sick or on vacation. Renew registration as an as needed CSR at the Motor Vehicle Department Manage address changes for taxable parcels Manage abatement data for Veteran's and other tax relief programs Download electronic tax payments and post electronically. Receipt real and personal property tax payments manually as needed. Train and update seasonal employees. Format and maintain Treasurer and Motor Vehicle websites and electric sign at Motor Vehicle. Return excess tax sale fund to State Unclaimed Property. Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience Graduation from high school AND
Associate's degree or Applied Science degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or similar area AND
Three years' verifiable experience in finance, accounting or bookkeeping OR
Any equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills and Ability
Working knowledge of accounting.
Must be able to operate an adding machine, computer terminal, and proficient in keyboarding. Knowledge of Google Sheets and Excel are required.
Must be able to establish and maintain good working relationships with other office employees. Must be able to deal tactfully with the public, at times under very stressful conditions. Must have good communication skills.
