Wethersfield Public Schools has an immediate opening for an Information Technology (IT) Technician who is a motivated and dedicated professional with superior technical skills to provide support for our staff and students. Work involves providing technical support and training to the Wethersfield Public Schools on various information systems, and operating automated office equipment in a Windows operating system environment.

This position will provide support for day-to-day operations. The IT Technician will utilize the district's ticket management platform to assist staff and students with a variety of technology-related needs.

Duties will include:

Set-up equipment for staff/student use while ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, and appropriate software; Coordinate the update of district computers and mobile devices; Develop procedures and provide technical instruction to staff as needed; Establish and ensure appropriate security controls over software are maintained; Respond to user inquiries regarding computer software/hardware operations and the use and interface of systems & software applications; Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software computer-related problems; Provide assistance in the design, development, and maintenance of various system applications; Review and provide suggestions regarding the procurement of information technology systems. Service/Help Support: Respond to calls, email and personnel requests for technical support; track status of all problems and monitor open problems; resolve simple to moderate problems by providing support on hardware and software products; resolve simple to moderate technical calls from staff. Desktop Services: Diagnose and resolve PC and simple software problems using a variety of diagnostic tools; use diagnostic tools to identify hardware and/or software problems and initiate repair; rebuild PCs and reconfigure user specific settings; install hardware and software upgrades and/or enhancements. Other duties as assigned by supervisors

Qualifications:

Minimum of four (4) years related work experience in a related field, including customer support and work with PC hardware and software applications in a Windows environment is strongly preferred. Experience with Microsoft products, along with experience working with mobile devices including iPad, Chromebooks, laptops, smartphones, and Google G-Suite for Education environment; Experience with Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM) preferred but not required; Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy preferred but not required; Valid current driver's license and a vehicle to move between buildings is required.

Physical Demands: The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, recurring stooping, climbing or walking, recurring lifting of moderately heavy items weighing less than 25 pounds, and may require occasional lifting of objects weighing in excess of 25 pounds. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as mobility and dexterity.
