Position: Director of Campus Ministry/Upper School Campus Minister Reports to: President/Head of Upper School FLSA Status: Exempt Job Summary The Director of Campus Ministry K - 12 is responsible for overseeing Sacred Heart Greenwich’s spiritual formation programs in a way that faithfully implements the school’s Mission and Strategic Plan. The Director of Campus Ministry is charged with enhancing the spiritual development of the entire school community: students and families, faculty and staff, and administration. To achieve this, the Director collaborates with the faculty and staff, especially the Theology Department, and leads the works of a team with the School Campus Ministers. The Director reports to the Division Head of the Upper school and Associate Head of Student Life, with frequent consultation with the President. The Director may also teach one Theology class, depending on the school’s academic needs. Employment at Sacred Heart is dependent on a demonstrable interest in and commitment to the Goals and Criteria for the Schools of the Sacred Heart. Essential Functions Plan and Coordinate Liturgical Events: Oversee the planning and execution of all-school liturgies, prayer services, and chapels in collaboration with school campus ministers, including Alumnae mass, Come Home for Christmas Mass, Christmas Eve Mass, and Baccalaureate Mass. Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to ensure meaningful and inclusive liturgical celebrations. Liturgical Calendar Management: Partner with relevant stakeholders to develop and maintain the school’s liturgical calendar. Ensure major liturgical events are effectively communicated and included in the school’s master calendar. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with Formation to Mission initiatives to support the spiritual development of the school community. Maintain clear, effective communication with School Leadership, division heads, faculty, and students regarding liturgical events and programs. Student Leadership in Worship: Direct the formation and training of Eucharistic ministers and lectors. Encourage and support student involvement in liturgical roles and preparation. Support for Special Events: Assist with planning and execution of special liturgical events as requested. Serve as Sacristan, ensuring all liturgical spaces, materials, and items are prepared and maintained appropriately. Coordinator of Wednesday morning liturgies - securing clergy, chapel setup, recruiting readers, maintaining “mass book” for mass intentions. Insuring chapel supplies are maintained, cleaned and are in accord with church seasons as well as laundering chapel linens. Coordinator of the Busy Person’s Retreat: Coordinate retreat dates with the RSCJ at Sophie’s Well and promote the offering to Sacred Heart Educators. Arrange accommodations for visiting RSCJ. Schedule spiritual companion sessions for faculty and staff. Assist retreat leaders in facilitating group prayer sessions. The Upper School Campus Minister: Plays a key role in student life, collaborating with students, leadership, and faculty to promote Goal One in the Upper School. Prepare prayer services for Faculty retreat and PD days. Plan and execute annual grade-level retreats for each Upper School class, including securing facilities, developing themes with Theology faculty and Campus Ministers, and recruiting faculty and student leaders for planning. Plan and lead Upper Level chapel services, collaborating with Student Council Campus Ministry reps, the Music Department, student clubs, Theology faculty, and guest speakers to create themes aligned with the Sacred Heart Goals and Criteria. Collaborate with the LS and MS Campus Ministers to assist with the All School Liturgies throughout the year. Serve as Lead for all Upper School Liturgies, including but not limited to retreat liturgies, Mother Daughter Liturgy, Ring Day and Baccalaureate Mass. Provide opportunities for Upper Students to receive the sacraments, as needed, particularly during the seasons of Advent and Lent. Coordinates a full day of Recollection and confession for the Community. Support Lower and Middle School Campus Ministers by coordinating Upper School students as mentors for events such as Prayer Buddies, Middle School retreats, and First Communion retreats. Coordinate the Upper School morning prayer schedule with advisors and Student Council Campus Ministry representatives. Provide pastoral support and care for students as needed. Serve as Moderator of the Upper School Campus Ministry Club. Oversee the liturgical arrangements for occasional baptisms, weddings, and funerals held in our chapel. Qualifications Practicing Catholic with a degree in theology, ministry, or a related field and/or demonstrated training expertise in ministry Deep understanding of liturgy, prayer and spirituality Proven experience with young adults in the classroom, ministry, and/or student life Inspiring communication skills, written and spoken. Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a team Commitments include some evening, overnight, and weekend programs.
