Overview

The Grants Specialist is responsible for the coordination of activities related to health service grants, in collaboration with staff across all disciplines and departments. Works under general supervision of Grants Manager with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Primary responsibilities are to support access to quality health services by researching grant opportunities, writing grant applications, preparing progress and outcome reports, and coordinating the implementation and administration of grant programs.

Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Research, write, edit, and submit complete and accurate grant applications and performance reports to various funders. • Continuously monitor performance measures, grant deliverables, grant award spending and grant staff allocation and reports to ensure goals are met and documented. • Track work progress and timelines to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Strong attention to deadlines. • Maintain grant-related reference resources to track expenditures, grant-funded staff or staff allocated to grants, funder research, reporting schedules, proposal deadlines, project milestones, and other elements as needed. • Work across departments to coordinate accurate and timely written and performance and data reports. • Serve as back up to the Grant Manager for applications, renewals, reports, and program oversight. • Ensure that all tasks related to the grant process are in accordance with company policies and governmental regulations. • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with funders. • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: • Demonstrated knowledge of public health, health care, or related field. • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local public health systems and health service delivery systems. • Demonstrated skill writing plainly about complex topics. • Strong math/accounting skills. • Critical thinking/problem solving. • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing proficiently. • Proficiency in the use of a computer and software packages, including Microsoft Office and Excel in particular. • Understands primary sourcing for data on population health, demographics, disparities, and health delivery systems. • Ability to communicate to various audiences effectively and with discretion. • Strong attention to detail in written work, financial calculations and application packets. • Ensure that all work is done in a timely and accurate manner. • Understands and applies knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to health systems and public funding. • Ensure all actions, job performance, personal conduct, and communications represent CommUnityCare in a highly professional manner at all times. • Demonstrated time management skills. • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. • Ability to complete tasks with attention to detail. • Some experience with automating manual processes. • Ability to prioritize tasks. • Ability to work independently and in a team. • Excellent organizational skills. • Skill in meeting facilitation, organization, planning. • Skill in identifying problems, evaluating alternatives, and recommending/implementing solutions. • Skill in developing processes to account for spending, payment, tracking, and review of work and services.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION: • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Health Education, Public Policy, or related field required.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: • 1 year experience writing on public health, health systems, or related topics
