McLean School (mcleanschool.org), a K-12 co-educational independent school in Potomac, Maryland, seeks applicants for a full-time Graphic Design and Social Media Manager to join the dynamic Communications and Marketing Office immediately. For 70 years, McLean School has been helping bright K-12 students realize their full potential by providing a comprehensive college preparatory program that emphasizes small classes and differentiated instruction. Position Overview The Graphic Design and Social Media Manager, reporting to the Co-Directors of Communications and Marketing, will have a strong background in graphic design, content creation, email marketing, social media management, photography/video, and website management to exemplify and engage our School community effectively.

This role involves collaborating with the Communications and Marketing Office to develop and execute strategies that enhance the School's brand presence across print and digital platforms. Most importantly, the Graphic Design and Social Media Manager will subscribe to the School's Core Values, Mission, and Philosophy.

Key Responsibilities

Graphic Design & Branding

Design compelling visual content for print and digital media, including brochures, flyers, newsletters, programs, emails, posters, School calendar, social media graphics, and event materials. Maintain brand consistency across all platforms, ensuring alignment with School style guide and standards. Support the relationship with an outside agency to handle some graphic design projects. Digital Communications

With a keen eye for visual appeal and mobile friendliness, create and manage email campaigns via MailChimp, including newsletters, Friday Division and Parents Association emails, invitations, event promotions, and announcements. Manage School Emergency Alert System to communicate with the community (website/Brightarrow) Social Media & Content Creation

Create engaging and relevant content (text, images, graphics, videos, for various social media platforms - Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and X. Ensure content aligns with brand voice and messaging to drive engagement and audience growth. Capture high-quality photos and videos of events, programs, and School activities. Edit and produce engaging multimedia content to enhance storytelling and brand visibility. Utilize social media scheduling tools and engage with followers. Stay informed about industry trends and changes to social media algorithms to optimize content performance and reach. Strategy & Collaboration

Assist in the development and execution of communication and marketing campaigns for events, fundraising, and enrollment initiatives. Work closely and collaborate with various school constituencies to support communication and marketing needs. Make recommendations for digital storytelling opportunities and oversee the creation and implementation of a social media content calendar for the year. Website Management (training provided if necessary)

Edit website (WordPress) as needed to maintain accurate content. Support the relationship with an outside agency that provides website editing services. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree/experience in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and Canva Strong knowledge of content creation on social channels and awareness of current trends (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube) Proficiency with a CRM (MailChimp preferred). Photography and basic video editing skills. Excellent writing and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaborate with Co-Directors. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced school environment. Creative, self-starter, and a problem-solver. A growth mindset and an enthusiasm to learn. Some evening and weekend availability. Experience with content management systems (WordPress).

Salary Range $70,000-$90,000
