SALARY Beginning salary at $120,000

DUTIES Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Chief School Business Official prepares the district budget, compiles financial information and creates reports in compliance with all State and Federal guidelines and grants. Working knowledge and experience in the following areas of oversight: Business Office Functions, Investments, Long Term Borrowing, Custodial and Maintenance Operations, Enrollment Forecasting, Facility Planning, Risk Management, Technology Financial Reporting (CAFR), Budgeting and Long Range Projections, Effective communication and Human Resource skills.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assesses business services, initiates and deletes appropriate business services, projects and plans along with long-term objectives to facilitate fiscal matters for the District Advises the Superintendent and Board of Education of current fiscal matters pertaining to expenditures and revenue availability on monthly basis Prepares the annual budget for the total District and projects capital and operating expenditure requirements for the fiscal year Prepares General State Aid claim, transportation claim and NSLP claims Prepares the Annual District levy and budget Analyzes and projects each department's budget with appropriate District staff member Identifies current and future resources and limitations to facilitate short and long-term forecasting of District needs Maintains an effective managerial system for banking funds for various accounts throughout the District Coordinates the total budgeting and accounting functions for monies throughout the District Administers and directs the total activities for maintenance of buildings and grounds for the District Develops and administers the employees' fringe benefit programs throughout the District Participates in community affairs and organizations to facilitate good communication throughout the District Co-Supervises management of the employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, life insurance, annuities, worker comp and retirement programs Supervises and coordinates the recording of fixed assets Supervises the maintenance of current records of contracts, insurance certificates, licensure, background checks etc. Prepares billing statements for health, life, dental and vision insurance Serves as IMRF authorized agent and assists with IMRF issues Serves as TRS authorized agent and assists with TRS issues Performs other functions as assigned by the Superintendent

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

QUALIFICATIONS

Illinois Professional Educator License with Chief School Business Official Endorsement required Minimum of 2 - 4 years experience Successful experience as a School Business Official, preferably in a K - 8 environment Solid analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills Demonstrated leadership skills Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles required Knowledge of school accounting preferred Solid analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills Demonstrated history of working in an ethical and fiscally responsible manner Proficiency with business technology and a variety of software packages Experience with new building construction, as well as facility remodeling preferred
