We are seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic that's responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy machinery used in industries such as construction, mining, agriculture, and transportation. This role involves working on equipment like bulldozers, excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other large vehicles to ensure they operate efficiently and safely.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and Troubleshoot: Identify mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues in heavy equipment.
  • Repair and Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance, repair broken parts, and replace worn-out components.
  • Engine Work: Repair or rebuild diesel and gasoline engines.
  • Hydraulic and Electrical Systems: Inspect and repair hydraulic hoses, pumps, and electrical wiring.
  • Welding and Fabrication: Weld and fabricate parts as needed for repairs.
  • Use of Diagnostic Tools: Utilize computerized diagnostic equipment and hand tools to test machinery functionality.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures and regulations while working with heavy machinery.
  • Record Keeping: Document all repairs, maintenance, and parts used for each service.
  • On-Site Repairs: Travel to job sites for emergency repairs when needed.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with operators and supervisors to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or GED (required); vocational or technical training in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment repair (preferred).
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic (preferred).
  • Certifications: ASE Certification in Heavy Equipment or Diesel Mechanics (preferred); OSHA or MSHA safety certifications (a plus).
  • Skills:
    • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting abilities.
    • Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and fuel systems.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
    • Welding and fabrication skills.
    • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software.
    • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy parts.
Work Environment:
  • Work in repair shops, construction sites, mines, or other outdoor locations.
  • Exposure to loud noises, grease, oil, and heavy machinery.
  • May require standing, bending, or lifting heavy components for extended periods.
