School Social Worker
Lotus School for Excellence
is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Social Worker to join our team. The School Social Worker will provide essential social, emotional, and behavioral support to students, families, and the school community. This role will focus on removing barriers to learning and promoting student well-being.
Job Summary:
The School Social Worker will serve as a liaison between the school, home, and community, providing direct and indirect services to students and families. They will address issues such as attendance, behavior, mental health, and family challenges, advocating for students' needs and connecting them with necessary resources. Participate in Special Education, Mental Health, and Student Support Teams, contributing expertise and support. Provide consultation and intervention strategies to general education staff, assisting with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and pre-referral processes. Conduct student assessments and interviews to identify needs and develop appropriate support plans. Develop and maintain case records, IEPs, FBAs, and BIPs, ensuring documentation is accurate and timely. Provide individual and group counseling to students and parents on social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Develop, implement, and review student service plans, monitoring progress and adjusting interventions as needed Responsibilities:
Student Support: Provide individual and group counseling to students addressing social, emotional, and behavioral concerns. Conduct social-emotional assessments and develop intervention plans. Implement strategies to improve student attendance, behavior, and academic performance. Provide crisis intervention and support to students experiencing trauma or other challenging situations. Family Engagement: Conduct home visits and family meetings to assess needs and provide support. Connect families with community resources, including mental health services, food banks, and housing assistance. Facilitate communication between school and families. Provide parent education and support. Collaboration and Consultation: Collaborate with teachers, administrators, counselors, and other school staff to develop and implement student support plans. Participate in IEP meetings and other multidisciplinary team meetings. Provide consultation to school staff on social-emotional learning, behavior management, and other relevant topics. Act as a liaison between the school and community agencies. Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential records of student services. Complete required documentation in a timely manner. Adhere to ethical guidelines and legal requirements, including FERPA and HIPAA. Program Development and Evaluation: Assist in the development and implementation of school-wide social-emotional learning programs. Evaluate the effectiveness of social work services and make recommendations for improvement. Stay current with best practices in school social work. Crisis Intervention: Participate in school wide crisis intervention teams. Provide support to students and staff during and after crisis events. Qualifications:
Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program. Valid state license as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). (Depending on state requirements). Experience working with children and families in a school or community setting. Knowledge of social-emotional learning, behavior management, and crisis intervention. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of community resources and services. Familiarity with IEP process. Required License:
Colorado (CDE) Special Service Provider License for School Social Worker or School Psychologist Master of Social Work (MSW) or Masters or 60 graduate courses in School Psychology including coursework in school and special education law Preferred Qualifications:
