Chief Engineer / Broadcast & Video Operations

Rothe Development, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Chief Engineer / Broadcast & Video Operations under the Enterprise Multimedia and Integrated Technical Services Contract (eMITS) working for the Office of Communications at NASA's Mary W. Jackson's Headquarters, located in Washington D.C. This position will work as a member of the Broadcasting & Production Unit within the NASA Productions' system. This is a hybrid position.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and maintain system diagrams, drawings and plans for all installs and projects.

Work with IT and Cybersecurity to develop and maintain a System Security plan of the Broadcast and Video Operations for NASATV

Maintain equipment inventory, including computer equipment, software, and hardware

Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot broadcast equipment located in NASATV suite, auditorium, sub rooms, broadcast control rooms.

Lead, plan, and assist with set-up, operation, and strike of remote and studio broadcast productions

Develop and maintain system diagrams, drawings and plans for all installs and projects.

Design, develop, and implement future Broadcast AV systems with integration into the Broadcast Centers with NASA IT, AV teams, manual patching, updates, and network scanning for vulnerabilities.

Ability to perform work within specific timeframes and adhere to deadlines

Must be proficient in MS Office.

Experience / Education

Requires BA / BS degree

A combination of education, training, or certification that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities may be substituted for the degree.

Experience working with multi-discipline teams and customers.

Must have experience in the following:

Broadcast engineering and/or live and remote production engineering

Installation, maintenance, and operation of technical broadcast control rooms/trucks, maintenance and operation, and live production equipment is preferred.

Video switchers, graphics platforms (ProPresenter), LED lighting, broadcast cameras, fiber, coax, and audio cable termination, Video transmission over IP and Satellite.

Blackmagic design products/ cameras, Sony Cameras, Linear and on demand Media solutions, Yamaha CL/QL series, Dante Audio routing, RTS Comm communications, Evertz Captioning, Multiview systems, SMPTE Fiber and Single Mode Fiber, Terranex Frame synchs, fiber systems, and other broadcast equipment is required.

Candidate needs to have a working knowledge of:

SD/UHD/4k broadcast working standards and equipment, technical facilities, broadcast A/V and IT production equipment and systems, including experience and exposure to file-based video recorders, production switchers, routing systems, intercoms, RF, cameras, audio mixers, transmission and encoding equipment as well as computer networks and subsystems including Dant, MADI , and AES67 industry trends

Post-production processes, workflow, NAS/ Cloud storage (AWS S3, BOX, etc) and remote post production workflows. Software (Adobe, DaVinci, ProTools, Audition, etc)

Familiarity with NASA standards and specifications is preferred

This position is contingent on successful completion of security badging requirements which include but are not limited to background checks, and drug screening.

Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

Ability to work outside of typical business hours as needed, including but not limited to evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on event schedules
