Summary:This position is responsible for the accounting related to the corporate site as well as a number of corporate holding companies and special entities. This position also performs the monthly close process for the corporate entities that includes corporate reconciliations and analysis, and also provides support to the external reporting group in the preparation of footnotes and other external financial information.
Duties and Responsibilities:• Perform accounting duties for the corporate sites and a number of other corporate entities. Includes the reconciliation and analysis of the activity in various accounts, as well as assisting with the presentation of the corporate financial results to management. Accounts and entries include external debt, treasury transactions, payroll, benefits accounting, equity transactions, investments, accruals for legal, environmental, workers comp and other expenses.• Perform general ledger reconciliations, investigate variances and work with all sites and other internal departments to reduce variances. Prepare entries as part of the monthly close process. Frequent interation with Site Controllers of other locations to ensure the proper accounting for transactions involving multiple sites.• Work with the Corporate Accounting Manager and other Corporate Accounting staff to develop strong internal controls, maintain systems, and continuously improve processes.• Interact with and provide assistance to our corporate tax group in understanding the corporate results so they can prepare tax provisions and returns.• Interact with and support the external reporting group by preparing and analyzing financial information to help them prepare our external filings.• Maintain Corporate Sarbanes Oxley narratives and assist perform Sarbanes Oxley testing related to the corporate entities.• Perform other related duties of similar complexity as directed. This position is a part of PerkinElmer's corporate accounting group at the company's corporate headquarters, so additional duties could include, but are not limited to, consolidations of other businesses within the PerkinElmer, Inc. portfolio, and special projects.Basic Requirements:• Bachelor's degree in Accounting with at least 5 years of accounting experience.
Preferred Qualifications:• Ability to interact with multiple departments and sites.• Experience recording journal entries and preparing reconciliations.• Experience with SAP helpful but not required.• This position requires communications with External Auditors, the FP&A treasury and tax teams, Human Resources, the Chief Accounting Officer, Actuaries, and controllers from other sites around the world. Effective verbal and written communication is of key importance.
