THE ROLE: SR. MANAGER TECHNICAL ACCOUNTING AND SEC REPORTING LOCATED IN OUR HQ, REDWOOD SHORES, CA
You will be responsible for serving as a finance partner in a global, fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for a broad range of corporate accounting functions including technical accounting issues, external reporting, coordinate SOX compliance and special projects. The position will have primary responsibility for ensuring the accuracy of the company's external financial reporting. To be successful in this role, you must be hands-on, detail oriented, have a strong technical understanding of GAAP, have strong organizational and communication skills, and you must be flexible juggling multiple deadlines. This role will require partnering with all levels of management and staff to drive continual improvements, delivery quality results, and present implication of technical accounting guidance to management and accounting peers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Technical Accounting:
Perform accounting research of technical issues and provide well thought out application of technical accounting guidance to company’s operations/transactions
Prepare documentation of significant accounting matters, prepare accounting position papers/memos that will be needed by accounting and external auditors
Participate in significant business transactions by providing technical accounting expertise. Transactions may include business combinations, impairment review, restructuring, and divestitures
Develop and provide training to domestic and international locations on technical accounting issues
Monitor new accounting standards, assess their impact on the organization and create working solutions
Assist with the development of financial policies in response to operational changes, internal control requirements, or technical accounting requirements
Ensure and document compliance with internal policies, SOX controls, and regulations relating to US GAAP and SEC requirements
External Reporting:
Maintain awareness of new accounting and financial reporting rules as well as a working knowledge of current SEC disclosure and reporting requirements (Regulation S-X and S-K)
Manage the SEC reporting process including preparation and review of the Form 10-K, Form 10-Q, Form 8-K, earnings release materials and related XBRL requirements with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement of workflow
Manage the reporting timeline and work collaboratively with various business partners (global finance organization, legal, investor relations, FP&A, tax …) to ensure reporting timelines are met
Other responsibilities:
Accurate and timely production of all financial information - Own and publish GAAP Financial Statements, supplemental financial data, reconciliations to Non-GAAP data
Coordinate quarterly reviews and annual audit with the auditors, including timeline and progress during fieldwork
Prepare (or review) financial information as part of the period close, such as EPS calculations, stock-based compensation expense, Statement of Cash Flows, Statement of Stockholders’ Equity etc
Partner with Director of Accounting and Controller to prepare reporting packages (monthly, quarterly) for review with CFO, CEO-staff, and Audit Committee
Coordinate compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act with outsourced partner, updates to documentation and controls, improvements to processes and controls
Any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time, including special projects
EXPERIENCE:
10+ years of accounting and finance experience in high-tech companies and public accounting
“Big Four” or national accounting firm audit experience is preferred
SKILLS:
CPA required (or Chartered Accountant)
Bachelors and/or Master’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting
Build teams, results-oriented, and a team player
Excellent management skills and ability to build support across functions
Drive improvements to reduce time from close to earnings release to filing of 10-Q, 10-K while maintaining accuracy
Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner
