Valid Professional Educator License with endorsement in Speech Language Pathology2. Demonstrated desire to help all children.3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Director of Student Services

JOB GOAL: To enable each student, through safe and efficient instruction, to take full advantage of the complete range of curricular and extracurricular activities offered by the district's schools by identifying and supporting student's speech and hearing needs.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

General responsibilities include working cooperatively with families, schools, and communities;Fosters a positive educational environment that contributes to the growth and development of all children, especially those who are at-risk or disabled.Conducts evaluations, provides direct services, as well as support services, within RTI and special education framework.Provides prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students who exhibit difficulties in the areas of language, speech, voice, and fluency.Provides screening, identification, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, intervention, and follow-up services for speech and/or language disorders of: speech, including articulation, fluency and voice language, including phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics, and disorders of receptive and expressive communication.Creates goals and benchmarks or short-term objectives to enable students to meet expectations for learning.Interprets and uses assessment data for the purpose of making appropriate modifications in the learning environment and planning effective interventions.Accesses and employs a wide range of information and technology to enhance student learning.Assists in determining the least restrictive environment to provide services based upon the needs of individual students.Plans, selects, uses and adjusts as necessary; instructional content, materials, resources, and strategies based upon age, ability, cultural, linguistic, and gender differences of the student.Speaks and writes effectively using language appropriate to the situation and the audience.Uses a variety of appropriate formal and informal assessment tools and procedures.Uses nondiscriminatory evaluation procedures in order to obtain a valid understanding of how a student is functioning and what the student is capable of accomplishing.Maintains useful and accurate records and communicates information such as, legal rights and evaluation results knowledgeably and responsibly to parents/guardians and others involved in meeting the needs of the student.Maintains confidentiality of medical and academic records and respect for privacy of individuals with disabilities.Participates in professional development opportunities.Models accurate, effective communication when conveying ideas and information and when asking questions and responding to students.Models the rules of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and syntax in both written and oral contexts.Communicates with parents/guardians to develop cooperative partnerships in order to promote students' learning and well-being.Demonstrates regular and punctual attendance.Maintains a positive attitude and professional demeanor when dealing with school personnel and the public as a school leader.

Position may remain open until filled. Extra curricular opportunities may also be available. Salary per salary schedule.
