Primary Function:
Ability to provide instruction, assessing and encouraging student progress. Ability to manage the learning environment, complying with state and district level regulations and policies.

Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching to file materials
Qualifications:
A valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in assigned teaching field as required by the Professional Standards Commission:
Speech Language Pathology (P-12)
Must possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credentials as required for the position
The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
Essential Functions:
Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
Evaluates communication skills of students referred and diagnoses speech and/or language disorders.
Assures placement of students in the speech-language program and develops and implements speech-language goals/objectives on individualized education plans according to established due process procedures.
Conducts and/or participates in IEP meetings or planning meetings for individual students.
Will schedule students appropriately.
Conducts speech/language therapy sessions according to schedule.
Notifies staff in a timely manner of any changes to schedule.
Provides consultative services to teachers, parents, administrators, and allied agencies to integrate speech-language goals into the classroom, other educational programs, and the home environment.
Reports and maintains student attendance and data to assess progress.
Complies with Federal, State and System regulations regarding due process.
Complies with State and System regulations regarding Medicaid documentation.
Refers to other agencies and/or personnel when appropriate.
Investigates and uses new strategies for delivering student services.
Participates in professional learning opportunities provided.
Attends scheduled departmental meetings.
Participates with school administrators/coordinators for effective planning, coordination, and implementation of speech-language program into total educational system.
Participates in RTI process at local school level.
Will report information required for local, state, and federal programs.
Maintains special education records for SI students at local school in a timely manner.
Maintains confidentiality of student and student records.
Performs other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee.
